Introduction:
The aim of this report is to describe the amount of time a group of young people have spent on the phone over the last week, who their calls have been made to and what kind of phones they have used. I interviewed students from my class to get their opinions.
Time spent on the phone.
Almost all of people i interviewed admitted that they spend on the phone at least 5 minutes per day. Usually boys spend less time on the phone than girls do (over the week for boys it was always below one hour and for girls nearly two hours)
Types of calls have been made.
Almost all of young people I interviewed admitted that they use phone to contact with their friends and acquaintances. Over half do it to find out some information (usually about school). Very few of them calls to their relevant. Some of students told me also that they tried to phone in the radio in order to give some comments.
Types of telephones
Although mobile phones are very popular nowadays, most of people I interviewed used stationary telephone. Only 25% calls wre made from mobile phone. Some studenst used also Intercom and telephone box.
Conclusion
This report suggested following:
Length of time spent on the phone by boys is usually shorter that by girls.
Young people used telephone in order to contact with friends although there were also calls to relevant.
Although mobile phones have gained in popularity over recent years, young people still prefer using stationary phones.
