JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: LABORATORY ANALYST
REPORTS TO: SENIOR ANALYST
HOURS: 37.5 HOURS PER WEEK
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Carry out with minimum supervision, the analysis of raw materials, packaging and finished products using established methods
To develop and validate new analytical methods
To provide written reports to an agreed format, within the agreed time scale set by the Senior Analyst, QC Controller
Carry out associated laboratory work including the preparation and standardisation of reagents and the care of apparatus and instrumentation
To ensure that Health and Safety, COSSH, and cGLP is adhered to
Present concise and accurate reports of work where abnormalities are encountered.
To perform the designated Quality System Responsibility
In the event of abnormal findings, to take appropriate action to continue an investigation after discussion with the Senior Analyst, QC Controller / Manager, modifying analytical methods where appropriate
Demonstrate and Train new employees in some of the basic analytical techniques
Ensure the training records are maintained and updated on a regular basis
Familiarisation with new instruments and instrument software
Ensure adherence to current SOPs at all times
To undertake any other duties as required
