JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: LABORATORY ANALYST

REPORTS TO: SENIOR ANALYST

HOURS: 37.5 HOURS PER WEEK

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Carry out with minimum supervision, the analysis of raw materials, packaging and finished products using established methods

2. To develop and validate new analytical methods

3. To provide written reports to an agreed format, within the agreed time scale set by the Senior Analyst, QC Controller

4. Carry out associated laboratory work including the preparation and standardisation of reagents and the care of apparatus and instrumentation

5. To ensure that Health and Safety, COSSH, and cGLP is adhered to

6. Present concise and accurate reports of work where abnormalities are encountered.

7. To perform the designated Quality System Responsibility

8. In the event of abnormal findings, to take appropriate action to continue an investigation after discussion with the Senior Analyst, QC Controller / Manager, modifying analytical methods where appropriate

9. Demonstrate and Train new employees in some of the basic analytical techniques

10. Ensure the training records are maintained and updated on a regular basis

11. Familiarisation with new instruments and instrument software

12. Ensure adherence to current SOPs at all times

13. To undertake any other duties as required
