Step 1 - Create a new Part Operation

3. Reset NC Manufacturing options: in Tools menu, select Options… then NC Manufacturing

   Click on

5. Click Yes, then OK

A. Open the product to machine

1. Menu File, Open …

6. Open the Product1.CATproduct in Data_ directory

B. Launch the Prismatic Machining workbench

1. In the start menu, select NC Manufacturing, then Prismatic Machining.

C. Define Part Operation parameters

1. In the PPR tree, double-click on Part Operation.1 :

The following window appears:

7. Select the machine:

8. Click on the Machine icon:

9. Click OK to accept the 3-axis_Default_machine.

10. Select the part to machine:

    Click on the Design part for simulation icon,

12. in the P.P.R tree, select Design Part(DesignPart.1)

13. Double click to validate.

14. Select the stock:

15. Click on the Stock icon,

16. in the P.P.R tree, double click on Stock(stock.1).

17. double click to validate.

18. Select the safety plane:

19. Click on Safety plane icon,

20. Select bottom of part, then MB3 on text “Safety Plane”, enter 80mm.

21. Click OK to create the part operation

Step 2 - Create a Facing operation.

Use step1 result or open Processfinal.CATProcess in Ex01-POcreation directory

1. 
   Expand Part operation.1 : Click

22. Select Manufacturing Program.1,

23. Click Facing icon :
    

A. Select the geometry to machine

1. In Operation Definition window, select the top of the part

24. Select the top of the designed part

25. in the PPR tree, expand the part design branch :

26. Click

27. In the Operation Definition windows, select a lateral wall

    Select sketch.1

29. 
    Click OK

30. On the Operation definition Windows,

31. Double click on offset on contour. Key in -10

B. Select the options for machining

1. In the Operation definition windows,

32. Select the Option tab page

33. Select back and forth as tool path style

C. Select the tool

1. In the Operation Definition windows,

34. Select the tool tab page

    Select Face Mill icon

D. Select Macros

1. 
   Select Macro tab page

    Activate Approach and Retract

37. Set Approach toolpath:

• 
  -Click on the arrow by the side of the white window to expand it

• and select approach

• -Click on

• -Click on

38. Set Retract toolpath :

• Select retract in the white windows

• Click on

• Click on

E. Replay the facing operation

1. Click on Replay

39. Use the different button to replay the operation:

40. Test the various options for the replay:

41. To change an option, click on the right down arrow of the icon

Explanation for these options is available via mouse sensitive area.

42. Click OK to end the replay

43. Click OK to accept the operation

F. Copy the facing operation and modify it

1. Select Facing1 Operation
   

44. Right mouse button on Facing.1 operation and select Copy

45. Double click on Facing.2 operation
    

46. Select Geometry tab page

47. Tag Bounding envelope

48. Click on Replay

49. Click OK to end the replay

50. Click OK to accept the operation
