What's the difference between the (G) and non-(G)
Versions of the Kenwood TS-570D and TS-570S radios?
Here are the features that the (G) series upgrade made to the 570D and S:
1. TX sound quality monitor with 9-step monitor volume for absolute control over voice quality
2. NR1 (SSB) is operator controllable in 9-step increment, or automatically tracks input signal strength
3. New CW DSP Filters (80 Hz, 150 Hz and 500 Hz) give you a total of 11 user-selectable filters
4. NR1 and NR2 settings can now re-configure automatically when changing mode groups (SSB/AM/FM to CW/FSK)
5. Manual weight feature (with built-in electronic keyer) for adjusting the relative length of dots and dashes in 16 steps between 1:2.5 and 1:4.0
6. Equalize receive signals, and use different settings for both TX and RX
7. "One-touch" DSP filter wide mode allows 'resurfacing' to check the band conditions when operating in narrow mode
8. Dual selectable Beat Cancel (BC) works against intermittent beat interference (except in CW mode)
9. CW auto tune mode links only with the RIT frequency without changing the transmit frequency
OK, so how do I tell if my radio is a (g) model?
The easiest way to tell if you have a (g) model is to press BC (near the upper-right corner of the front panel) once -- it should beep. Then press and hold it. It should make two beeps (indicating it just went into the improvement listed at No. 8 above). If it does not give two beeps but instead one, lower-pitched beep (indicating an erroneous keypress), then you don't have a (g) model.
