Choose ribbon wldth according to size of finished bow desired.

2 yards No. 1 'h or No. 2 ribbon = approx. diameter 3"

11/2 yards No. 5 ribbon = approx. dia. 5"

1V* yards No. 9 ribbon = approx. dia. 5Vz" 11/2 yards No. 16 ribbon = approx. dia. 7" 2 yards No. 40 ribbon = approx. dia. 9”

Tie wire

BASIC BOW 1 • No. 1 Vt or No. 2 ribbon

2" from on end, gather ribbon and hołd be-tween thumb and finger. Be surę right side of ribbon is facing you and short taił is pointed toward floor.

Use the next 4,; of ribbon to make a 2" loop, looping ribbon AWAY from you. Slip it be-tvveen thumb and finger, gathering ribbon as you form loop. Slip gathers in beside (not on top of) each other as you go. Be surę to keep right side of ribbon on outside of loops.

Use the next 4' of ribbon to make a 2" loop, looping ribbon TOWARD you. Complete loop as before.

Continue making loops AWAY from and TOWARD you, keeping the right side of ribbon on outside of loops, until 16 loops are completed.

Place tie wire under your thumb with one end extending approximately 2" beyond thumb. Bring wires to back of bow. Hołd tie wire tightly and twist bow to secure.

Cut taiis to 2" length.

BASIC BOW 2 • No. 5 ribbon Follow instructions for Basic Bow 1. start-ing 3” from one end and using 5" of ribbon to make 2Vt” loops. Completed bow has 8 loops. Cut taiis to 3".

BASIC BOW 3 • No. 9 ribbon

Follow instructions for Basic Bow 1, start-ing 3" from one end and usmg 6" of ribbon to make 3" loops. Completed bow has 6 loops. Cut taiis to 3".

BASIC BOW 4 - No. 16 ribbon Follow instructions for Basic Bow 1, start-ing 31/j " from one end and using 7" of ribbon to make 3v2” loops. Completed bow has 6 loops. Cut taiis to 3V2".

BASIC BOW 5 - No. 40 ribbon Follow Instructions for Basic Bow 1: start-ing 4V2” from one end and using 9" of ribbon to make 4Y2" loops. Completed bow has 6 loops. Cut taiis to 4Vh".
