Approximate finished diameters • 6" and 9"

Choose ribbon width according to size of finished bow desired.
2 yards No. 9 ribbon = approx. diameter 6" Vz yard No. 9 ribbon for 9" tails 22/j yards No. 40 ribbon = approx. diameter 9"
Va yard No. 40 ribbon for 6" tails OR 2/3 yard No. 40 ribbon for 12" tails Tie wire or chenille stem
Instructions are written for No. 9 ribbon. Any changes for No. 40 ribbon are in ( ). To make Bow: 2" (3”) from one end, gather ribbon and hołd between thumb and finger. Be surę right side of ribbon Is facing you and short taił is pointed toward the floor.
Use the next 5" (7") of ribbon to make a 2Vz" (3Vz") loop, looping ribbon AWAY from you. Slip it between thumb and finger. gathering ribbon as you form loop.
Slip gather in beside (not on top of) each other as you go. Be surę to keep right side of ribbon on outside of loops.
Use the next 5" (7") of ribbon to make a 2Vz" (3'/»”) loop. looping ribbon TOWARD you. Com-plete loop as before.
Repeat with the next 6" (9T') of ribbon to make a 3" {4Vz*') loop, looping ribbon AWAY from you.
Use the next 2Vz" (4") of ribbon to make a center circle, bringing ribbon TOWARD you. up and over and around the thumb. Gather as before.
Use the next 6" (9") of ribbon to make another 3" (4’/a") loop, looping ribbon TOWARD you.
Use the next 7” (11") of ribbon. make two 3'/2*' (5Va”) loops. first loop AWAY from you, second loop TOWARD you as before. Then using 8" (12”) of ribbon. make two 4" (6") loops.
Gather the length for the taił at center and slip it between thumb and finger. You havo a handful of ribbon. but hang on! Insert wire or chenille stem THROUGH the center circle and bring ends to back. Hołd wire or chenille stem tightly and turn bow to secure.
The first taił is at top center of bow. Three tails will be at bottom. Cut taił ends to shape desired.
Separate loops.
Now, that wasn't too bad, was it?
