The patterns are shown on 150 cm wide cloth, folded lengthways for the Front, and crossways for the Back. This gown is planned as in Blocks, Fig 27. Measurements - Waist to hem is 110 cm. The front hem is 70 cm, the back hem is 115 cm, giving a total hem of 3.7 m. Gown length is given from waist to hem because the flaring is added from the waist or below.
Front - Extend the bodice construction linę using the waist-to-hem measurement. Mark off the hem width on either side of the construction linę: 25 cm towards CF and 45 cm towards the side seam linę. Now draw the CF and side seam lines from the hem to join the bodice pattern on the curve of the hip. Plan the hem curve by measuring off the waist-to-hem length from several points on the waist.
