The ones choscn arc particularly suitablc for further cmbcllishmcnt with embroidery, whether you cłioose simplc ribbon roses or cross stitch motifs. Add a swiss damed initial to make the bag tndy personal (sec page 83-85).

Bags measure 8m (20.5cm) wide by 9m (23cm) long

2 x I ^4oz/50g balls in wbite

Oddments of blue yam for embroidery

NEEDLES

Size 6 (4mm/UK8) needles

Embroidery threads for roses

Size 6 (4mm/UK8) needles


Gaugc (Tension)

20 sts and 28 rows to -lin (I Ocm) measured over stockinette (stocking) stitch on size 6 (dmm/UK8) needles

BACKAND FRONT

(MAKE 2 THE SAME)_

Using size 6 (tmrn/UKB) needles casl on 37 sls and work in gingham chcck patiem from Stitch lihrary. page 94 until work mcasures approx 7’/jin (I9em). ending with row 9 of pattern.

** Work 9 rows in st st. heg willi a p row. Ncxt row I* to end. doming row for drawstring ehannel).

Work 9 rows in st st. heg with p row.

Bind (cast) off.

FINISHING_

Błock pieces to 8in (20.5em) wide and lOin (29.9cm) long. limhroider hag with initial using duplicate stitch. l iii other squares with motifs worked in cross stitch (see page 156). Join hack and front togelher along botlom seam. Join side seams. Icaving a smali gap for drawstring in first 5 rows of st st. Tum hem over to the inside and slipstitch in place. Make two twisted cords thc same length and thread through gaps from eacli side.

IGauge (Tension)

20 sts and 28 rows to -lin (lOcm) measured over stockinette (stocking) stitch on size 6 (4mm/UK8) needles

BACKAND FRONT (MAKE 2THE SAME)

Using size 6 (tmm/UKB) needles cast on 37 sts and work in King Charles hrocadc from Stitch lihrary. page 92. until work mcasures approx 8in (20cm) from heg. ending with row 7 of pattern.

Work as givcn for gingham chcck hag from -.

FINISHING_

Błock pieces to 8in (20.9cm) wide and lOin (29.9cm) long. limhroider hag with roses (see page 89). Finish as givcn for gingham chcck hag.
