Ascent of kidneys. Notę change in position between mesonephric & metanephric systems. Kidneys ascend & gonads descend.

Ascent caused by diminution of body curvature as well as growth of body in lumbar & sacral regions. In pelvis kidney receives arterial supply from pelvic branches of aorta. During ascent it is vascularized by arteries that originate from aorta at continuously higher levels. The lower vessels usually degenerate. Those which do not become accessory renal arteries.
