Making up the design
Fasten a clean piece of baking parchment to your ąuilling board and draw around a circular object, e.g. a jar lid. My circle was 7cm (2%in) in diameter.
Glue the closed coils together, using the circle on the baking parchment as a guide and pins to keep them in position. Alternate the colours. Stick the top hanger to the outside of the circle and the peg hanger directly underneath. Then glue the four white coils together, using a straight linę as a guide, and attach the flame.
Glue two holly leaves and a berry to each side of the candle (between the third and fourth coils) and three berries in a pyramid shape to the bottom of the candle. Glue a holly leaf and berry over the bottom coil of the candle and repeat this on the other side.
Attach the candle to the inner top hanger by passing a silver thread through the centre of the peg and the top of the candle flame. Tie a knot in the thread when
the candle is hanging in the middle of the circle. Pass another piece of silver thread through the top hanger and make a loop to hang on the tree.
Do try experimenting. Here, I have used ąuilling to decorate a candle and a paper bauble.
