Windmills

This design is an interpretation in tatting of a favourite nineteenth-century crochet lace.

Using Coats Chain Mercer Crochet No. 20, each motif measures 7 cm (2³A in) in diameter. See KNOW-HOW 12 (p. 53) for suggestions for assembling the motifs.

Start at A with a ring of 6ds, p, 2ds, p, 6ds;

rw, and work in continuous rounds from the diagram. Ali picots should be smali, and all chain-to-chain joins are madę with the shuttle thread. Finish at G, making surę that there are the same number of chains on each of the six sides, on the finał round.

When all motifs have been assembled in the form required, work one round of chains on the outer edge, following the generał layout of the windmill patterns. Press carefully under a damp cloth.
