Ring A Ring O' Roses

The concentric 'triple-ring' was a unit of tatting pioneered by Tina Frauberger of Dusseldorf in the early decades of this century. This design was inspired by her work.

Using Coats Chain Mercer Crochet No. 60, the motif measures 7.5 cm (3 in) in diam-eter. It uses two shuttles wound on a con-tinuous thread, and the motif is worked in a single round.

Start at A with a ring of 14ds, p, 14ds, rw. Chain of (5ds, p) twice, 5ds, join working-shuttle thread to picot of previous ring and leave a tiny picot over the join.

Chain of (5ds, p) twice, 5ds, join working-shuttle thread to base of ring, rw.

Chain of 5ds, join working-shuttle thread to next picot, change shuttles and work ring B. Continue from the diagram, chang-ing shuttles to work the smali rings as indicated by the colours. Rings B, C, D, E and F are alike. On ring G, work an extra-large picot. It must be large enough to hołd the eight centre rings.

To complete the motif, join finał ring E to first ring C, join the following chain to first ring B, and join the finał long centre chain to the first centre chain. Tie to base of first ring A to finish.
