Beauty Spots
Using Coats Chain Mercer Crochet No. 40, the edging measures 22 mm (% in) in width, and will ease to a curve. Josephine knots are sometimes known as beauty spots.
Start at A with a ring of 4ds, p, 7ds, p, 4ds, p, 7ds. Work rings B and C from the diagram, then take the shuttle thread to the back of the work and join it to the picot which connects rings B and C. Work ring
D. Bring the shuttle thread back and join it at the base between rings B and C.
Work ring E from the diagram. Leave a minimal space and work a Josephine knot of 10 hs. Join the shuttle thread to the centre picot of ring E, so that the Josephine knot is enclosed within the ring. Leave a minimal space and make a similar Josephine knot before working the next ring A, which encloses this knot as it joins to ring
