lo make the cape, roli out some dough and, using the larger round cutter, cut out one circle. Using the smali round cutter, cut out a circle from the centre of the first circle. Make a vertical cut down the front opening of the cape and round off each side.
Join the cape around the body overlapping it at the front.
Roli a thin ropę of dough. Join the ropę to the edge of the cape Rough up the surface of the ropę using the point of a knife. Join the hat to the head. Roli a very thin ropę of dough and join it to the edge of the hat. Rough up the surface of the ropę using the point of a knife.
To make the medium and smali ducks, follow the instructions as for large duck, making each one smaller than the last. Place the ducks onto a baking tray and bakę at temperaturę 110°C (220°F or Gas Mark A) for about four hours.
Finishing the Christmas ducks
MOnce the ducks have cooled, you can paint them.
• Green, purple, yellow, pink, red and blue, for the presents • Yellow, for the feet and beaks • Bright red, for the capes and hats • White, for the head, body, wings, pompom and fur trimmings • Black, for the eyes When the paint is dry, apply two coats of varnish.
