MOTHER RABBIT WITH BABIES
Bakę the finished modę a: 100°C (200°F or Gas Mar< '£) for about five hours
Mark out two smali circle shapes for the eyes with a knife. Push the knife in a little further a: the way around the circle and lift off the top surface of the dough. Wet each eyehole and press a bead into each of the holes.
Roli out some dough until it is quite thin. Cut a piece measuring 20 x 90mm (A x 3J£in) to make the bonnet. Make a frill to fit around the inside edge of the bonnet and join it around the head. Then join the bonnet over the frill.
• Mint green, for the dress and bonnet (not the frill)
• White, for the ankle frills, apron and the frills around the bonnet
• Black, for babies' eyes, and around the mother's eyes
• Light brown, for the whiskers
• Strong pink, for the mother's and babies' noses and ears. Use the same pink to paint smali dots on the mother's dress
• Water down the pink, and give the mother's cheeks some colour
Apply two coats of varnish.
Make some ears by rolling two thin ropes of dough 20mm (J/in) long. Flatten and taper one end of each ropę. Make a smali vertical linę on each of the ears using a knife. Join the ears to the top of the bonnet. Push the hairpin in the top centre of the hat towards the back.
