REPORT ON THE FIELD RESEARCHES OF THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL ST ATI ON

IHKM PAN IN KALISZ IN 1956

In 1956 explorations were carried out within the precincts of the village Piwonice on sites 1 and 3 and in Kalisz by the Wydarte Street.

On site 1 at Piwonice relics of 11 buildings of the I—IVth c. and some pits of different destiny were investigated. The results of the excavation works confirmed the former observations as regards the loose charactcr of the settlement construction erected on the explored site in the I—IVth c.

On site 3 there were investigated: 1 building, an oven, 7 pits of the Late La Tene and of the Roman period and one hearth dated to the XIIth—XIIIth c.

The explorations carried out by the Wydarte Street in Kalisz were of a conservatory character. They resulted in finding 2 pits and 3 Early Medieval hearths and a part of a Lusatian pit.
