Biological basis for technologies using microorganisms for solid, liąuid and gaseous wastes treatment. Examples of implementations and futurę perspectives.

I .Biodegradation and biotransformation - definitions. Contaminants characteristics - Chemical properties influencing resistance/biodegrability.
2. Environmentalfactors in contaminants’ recalcitrance.
3. Microbiology for biodegradation. Types of microorganisms, growth kinetics, energy formation.
4. Biochemistry of biodegradation - carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus and sulfur cycles. Enzyme - substratę interactions (competition, synergism).
5. Co-metabolism. Degradations via multi-organism pathways.
