RUNS ON NIGHTFROST RECORDED FOR THE VEGETATIVE PERIOD
OF POLAND
From analyzing the run of nightfrost days recorded for the period from 1951 to 1970 by 187 meteorological stations (with measurements madę at 2 m above ground surface), the author was able to arrive at the following conclusions:
During the vegetative period (April to October), runs of nightfrost days lasting morę than two days were recorded (as averages for all-Poland) in 59% of cases for April and in some 31% of cases for October, while they occurred in about 7% of cases in May and 3% September.
The intensity of nightfrosts occurring on two or morę than two successive days was usually higher than for one-day nightfrosts. As a rule the increase in
