NITROGEN AND PHOSPHORUS REMOVAL PROCESSES IN SEQUENCING BATCH BIOFILM REACTOR (SBBR)
Abstract
This manuscript describes issues linked with the use of biomass in the form of a biofilm in processes of denitrification and biological dephosphatation as well as presents the design and functioning of a seąuencing batch reactor with biofilm. The specific structure of biofilm makes the occurrence ofaerobic, anoxic and anaerobic zones possible in the same time in the same reactor depending on biofilm layer. It facilitates specific processes aimed at nitrogen and phosphorus removal, like denitrify-ing dephosphatation.
