The second regional workshop in the framework of the project was devoted to "Molecular deleclion of phytoplasmas

Opening the event wilh the inlroduclory speech, head of Bioadaplalion Laboralory of the Department of Fundamental Problems of Biological Productivity of the Institute of Botany, ANAS bada Huseynova noted that protection of plants against pathogens especially virus and phytoplasmas is a significant economic problem, as well as one of the basis priority directions of the modern scientific research. Agriculture is one of the advanced fields in economy as in other countries of the world. Imestigation of pathogens that can cause different diseases in strategically significant crop plants, especially morę dangerous viruses and phytoplasmas is an actual problem and important for development of the agriculture in our country. Research of phytoplasma diseases in Azerbaijan starled under the leadership of professor Jalal Aliyev in the Department of Fundamental Problems of Biologycal Productivity of the Institute of Botany first in 2005 and is successfutly continuing. The important results were obtained during a short limę in this area and the results were published in the joumals with high impactfactors.

It should be noted that such seminars organized in Baku are of great importance for young researchers in Azerbaijan learning new molecular deleclion methods of plant viruses. At the end of the seminar participants were awarded by certificates.

The information was presented by Mikę Qreub - the representative of Free Information Service about articles. The arlicle was dedicaled to antioxidant defense Systems and studies of the characteristics ofphotosynthesis of wheat genotypes subjected to continuous soiI drought during ontogenesis. New interesting results were obtained for science in this research.
