Building renovations finally saw fhe lighł oi day from the plannmg stage. Remod eling the iront of the building had been in the plannmg stage for approxirnately a year. The iob was put out to bid and originally called for canopies and a new facade. The cost. howev-er proved to be prohibitive and the plans were scaled back.
The face lift started in December and mad* vertently led to«i water logged situation. Tom peratures dropped the week of Decemlx>r 1 1 th to 10 degrees below zero. The work men had already pulled the Windows and doors so on Dec. 15 the spnnkler system m the Iront of the building froze and set off the alarms and a łlood hit the hallway west of the Little Theatre. No permanent damage was done.

plunged to 12 below. a problemsoceurred m the relay that set the thermostat for the boilers. In all some 18 pipes broke over the holidays and the larutonal staff work over time around the clock to get the building back into shape for the January 3 start of school. Even with the monumental clean up iob, many problems surfaced when the heat was restored and the water damp floors began to dry out, twisting up and peeling back tiles. In two rooms up-stairs. actual pipes twisted out of the floor
Mr. Rabold. assistant pnncipal, had to juggle teacher schedules to accommodate the moves.
