Tape Specification KT Method Confirmation Testing
Patient position: prone, with the shoulder off
the edge of the table. Abduct the shoulder to
120 degrees. Externally rotate the shoulder
so the thumb points to the ceiling. Lift the arm
to the ceiling.
Examiner pressure: Apply downward
pressure against the lateral forearm.
Note: the posterior deltoid, teres minor,
infraspinatus, and elbow extensors must
stabilize the humerus to the scapula in order
to use the arm as a lever.
