KT Method



Patient position: neutral standing.



Ask the patient to slightly flex the hip
and knee joints.



Remove backing from the central
portion of the tape.



Holding the Kinesio Tex by the tails,
pull the middle 1/3 of the tape with
severe (75%) available tension and
apply the middle 1/3 of the tape to the
greater trochanter in the direction
from the 2 o'clock to the 8 o'clock
positions.



Ask the patient to maximally flex the
hip and knee joints and apply the
ends of the Kinesio Tex with no
tension.



Ask the patient to slightly flex the hip
and knee joints.



Repeat the process for applying the
first strip of tape. Direct the second
piece of tape over the first from the 10
o'clock to the 4 o'clock positions.



Ask the patient to laterally flex the
trunk to the opposite side.



Holding the Kinesio Tex by the tails,
pull the middle 1/3 of the tape with
severe (75%) available tension and
apply the middle 1/3 of the tape to the
greater trochanter in the direction
from the 12 o'clock to the 6 o'clock
positions.



The central portion of each piece of
tape should be over the greater
trochanter.
