This is a type A. Notice only one button. Goes side to side for FF and
REW and you push in to eject. You'll find these in economy cars and
small S10 pickups etc.
This is a type B. It has three buttons like the type C and is
mechanically interchangable with the type C. This the main one
that'll come in with the cassette holders broken from somebody
forcefully removing the tape. When the belt slips, it won't eject.

This is a type C.
This is a type D. Two buttons on the side and there is a switch on the
front panel for music search instead of regular FF and REW. Eject is
a momentary SPST on the front panel, not mechanical. Reportedly
made by Blaupunkt, you'll find these in luxury cars. While the B and
C decks do disengage when you turn off the ignition, these actually

eject the tape. Like the A drive, the cassette does not drop, rather the
bottom ½ of the mech comes up to engage the reels. Note the motor
is missing in this one.
