Oprogramowanie do telefonu i8510 skłąda się z trzech części: Code, PDA oraz CSC.

Wersje poszczególnych części mogą się różnić od siebie.

Natomiast NIGDY nie wilno ich łączyć dowolnie. Można je łączyć tylko tak jak jestr to zaznaczone w poniższej tabeli

Przed rozpoczęciem aktualizacji oprogramowania należy OBOWIĄZKOWO sprawdzić czy wgrywane do telefonu pliki są zgodne z tabelą oprogramowania.

Wgranie złych wersji spowoduje trwałe uszkodzenie telefonu.

1. Introduction

CODE & CSC?

• Divide phone binary to CODE where all functionalities reside and CSC(Customer Software Configuration) where all customization stuffs are.

CODE : Common code part which applied each binary version. (*.IMG) CSC (Customer Software Configuration) : Customer part(operator information) derived from each common code part. (*.IMG) Base Band : Modem(BaseBand) part which applied each binary version (*.BIN)

2. Download Process

PDA Rom Image(CODE Part) : SW Phone Binary > (ex: PDA_I8510DHJH4_CODE.7z) PDA Rom Image(CSC Part) : CSC Binary > (ex: PDA_CSC_I8510KENUJ1.7z) Modem(BaseBand) Image(Base Band Part) : Base Band Binary > (ex: Phone_I8510DJHJ2.bin)

2. Unzip and Set the Environment

Unzip the downloaded file.

what is difference from previous separate XML

(after 2008/10/20 of release version applied separate XML)

Note ¹⁾ : If CSC Binary Rom image released on Oct.14 and CODE Binary on Oct.16, Unzip the file (CSC Binary CODE Binary) because of one file Presetable.xml

1. Preparation

1. Apollo v6.00 (version can be changed later)

2. USB driver for Apollo

1. PDA : SSDN_V1.1.808.7165_SETUP_whql.exe

2. MODEM(BASEBAND) : SAMSUNG Mobile USB DRIVER(4.40.7.0) v1.6.zip

3. unrar.dll for Apollo

4. MS xml parser : Msxml.msi

5. USB Cable

6. I8510 phone with almost fully charged battery(more than 3 battery bars)

2. Concepts and Cautions

1. Binary is devided for 2 images, PDA and MODEM(BASEBAND). PDA image consists of CODE and CSC.

2. Do Not power off the phone or disconnect cable during download.

3. Use right version of Apollo written in `Release Note'.

4. Vesions of CODE, CSC and MODEM(BASEBAND) should be matched correctly according to `Release Note' when you download. If the combination is wrong, phone may not work.

5. Phone LCD will show the downloading progress bar when you download CODE and CSC, however it will not show the progress bar during MODEM(BASEBAND) download. Instead Apollo shows the progress.

3. USB Driver Installation

1. Excute SSDN_V1.1.808.7165_SETUP_whql.exe to setup PDA driver.

2. Unzip SAMSUNG Mobile USB DRIVER(4.40.7.0) v1.6.zip, setup MODEM(BASEBAND) driver with setup.exe.

4. How to make sure Driver installation

1. Launch Apollo.

2. How to make sure PDA Driver

1. Power on the phone with 1 + 4 button pressed.(PDA Download Mode)

2. When you connect phone to PC, you can see the message like the picture below. This means PDA Driver is installed well.




3. How to make sure MODEM(BASEBAND) Driver

1. Power off the phone and Power on with 7 + * key pressed.(MODEM DOWNLOAD Mode)

2. When you connect phone to PC, you can see the message like the picture below. This means MODEM(BASEBAND) Driver is installed well.




5. Release

1. MODEM(BASEBAND) Release

1. MODEM(BASEBAND) binary is release by Modem Team, the releationship between PDA and MODEM(BASEBAND) is written in `Release Note'. Therefore you should check `Release Note' to know correct CODE and CSC version for MODEM(BASEBAND).

2. In myProject, you can find the `Release Note' at Baseband Binary.

2. PDA release consists of CODE and CSC.

1. FULL(CODE + CSC) Release

1. CODE and several CSC are released concurrently, in myProject CODE and CSC will be zipped as one file. The zip file is uploaded in Phone Binary part.

2. There exists xml files(ex: CODE_I8510XXHH9.xml, CSC_I8510XENHHc.xml) ¹⁾ with some binary files in the zip file.

Note ¹⁾ : PresetTable.xml (before 2008/10/20 version)

2. CODE Release

1. After FULL Release, modified CODE is released without CSC modification.

2. In myProject, it is uploaded at Phone Binary part. There are CODE binary and xml file (ex: CODE_I8510XXHH9.xml)¹⁾ in the zip file.

Note ¹⁾ : PresetTable.xml (before 2008/10/20 version)

3. CSC Release

1. Without modification for CODE, modified CSC is released.

2. In myProject, it is uploaded at CSC Binary part, there are CSC binary and xml file (ex: CSC_I8510XENHHc.xml) ¹⁾ in the zip file.

Note ¹⁾ : PresetTable.xml (before 2008/10/20 version)

6. How to Download

!!! Make sure CODE, CSC, MODEM(BASEBAND) mapping in `Release Note', and then download with the correct version . After download, press *#1234# and check CODE, CSC and MODEM(BASEBAND) version . This is very important!!!

1. CODE + CSC + MODEM(BASEBAND) Download(FULL Release)

1. In myProject, download FULL Release and MODEM(BASEBAND) binary.

2. Launch Apollo, press
   button to select MODEM(BASEBAND) binary.

3. Press
   button and select CODE xml file. (ex: CODE_I8510XXHH9.xml)

Note : (before 2008/10/20 version) Select xml file PresetTable.xml. If you want to download latest CSC(from 2008/10/20) with pre-released CODE binary, use CODE xml file include in CSC release. PreSetTable.xml cannot be used to download CODE part with latest CSC.

4. Press
   button and select CSC xml file. (ex: CSC_I8510XENHHc.xml)

Note : (before 2008/10/20 version) Pass i.-4.

5. if previous version (before 2008/10/20), choose Country at `Country:' and Operator at ` Operator:'.

6. Confirm CODE and CUSTOM version.




7. Power on the phone with 4 + * key pressed(ALL DOWNLOAD Mode)

8. When you connect phone to PC with USB, Modem is attached.




9. In PDA Status, check all the settings below are fine(default settings)




10. Selected automatically Model Name at `Model:'.

(if it doesn't showing like this, choose the Model item)




11. Press
    to start all download.

12. After MODEM(BASEBAND) is download first, the device will be re-booted automatically. And then CODE and CSC will be downloaded. If the phone is not re-booted automatically, detach the usb cable of the phone and power off. Power on with 1+4 key pressed, and the re-attach to PC. Then PDA binary will be downloaded automatically.

2. MODEM(BASEBAND) Download Only

1. Proceed from the step 'i.-1' to 'i.-2'

2. Turn on the device with 7 + * key pressed(Modem Download Mode)

3. Do from `i.-8', `i.-10'.

4. Press
   button to start download.

3. CODE + CSC Download Only

1. Do `i.-1' , `i.-3'~`i.-6'.

Note : (before 2008/10/20 version) Pass `i.-4'. Do `i.-1', `i.-3', 'i.-5', 'i.-6'

2. Turn on the device with 1 + 4 key pressed and connect to PC to attach PDA part.

3. Do `i.-9', `i.-10'.

4. Press
   button to start PDA download.

4. CODE Download Only

1. In myProject, Download CODE Release and unzip.

2. Do `i.-3'~'i-6'.

3. Power On the phone with 1 + 4 key pressed and connect to PC with USB to attach PDA part.

4. At PDA Status, Selected automatically `CODE' like this.

(if it doesn't showing like this, select the `CODE')




5. Press
   button to start download.

5. CSC Download Only

1. In myProject, download CSC Release and unzip.

Note : It is impossible to download only with CSC Release in case of some Releases(before 2008/09/11 version) . In this case, to download the binary find CODE binary first that is mapped the CSC you want to download, in myProject. Unzip CODE, and overwrite the CSC and then Do things below.

2. Do `i.4'~'i.-6'.

Note : (before 2008/10/20 version) Do `i.-5'~'i.-6'.

3. Power on the phone with 1 + 4 key pressed. Connect the device to PC then PDA is attached.

4. Selected automatically CSC at PDA Status.

(if it doesn't showing like this, select the `CSC')




5. Press
   to start download.

7. Troubleshooting

1. If the device is not attached after the Driver installation,

1. Change USB Cable and Phone.

2. Try with another PC.

3. Consult R&D Team.

2. Download stops in the middle

1. Close and launch Apollo again then try again.

2. Check the phone is charged enough.

3. Download doesn't start

1. Check the connection between Apollo and a phone.

2. Select an image again.

3. Check the image is not damaged.

4. Check Apollo version matches with the image.

4. Phone doesn't boot up after downloading

1. Check CODE, CSC and MODEM(BASEBAND) Version.
