Prologue
Ethan Parks, standing at a bar, waiting for a drink should be a contradiction in terms. Or
the beginning of a really strange joke. Dustin aimed a quirky smile at his brother.
“What?” Ethan asked, tilting his head in inquiry.
“Nothing really. I’m still getting used to seeing you this way,” Dustin answered
with a sweep of his hand, taking in his brother’s new look.
Ethan had gone from quintessential nerd to classic cool. Gone were the dress or
casual slacks, business or polo shirts. Now he wore jeans and tees or fashionable button
down shirts that showed off the new definition of muscle that accented his slim body.
With the new look had come greater self-confidence, something that was further
boosted by Ethan’s lover, Crewe.
Dustin couldn’t be happier for him. His brother Ethan was a sweet, gentle soul
who’d endured a lot of teasing and angst during his formative years and beyond.
Despite their elder brother Nick’s and his own efforts, they were never able to
completely shelter Ethan from those who were determined to hurt him. They’d done
the best they could, but Ethan had become quiet and withdrawn. Cruelty and those
who wielded it always seemed to find an opening. Boys like the one Ethan had been,
gawky and skinny, always seemed to garner contempt from their peers. As though they
didn’t have enough to contend with.
It amazed Dustin to see his brother now. So happy, so in love. Dustin let his gaze
wander across the room to Ethan’s lover, Crewe Jackson. Crewe was a good man and a
determined one. He’d swept Ethan off his feet and radically changed his life with
tender care and patient, loving attention. It was clear to see he loved Ethan, especially
when he gave his brother those sizzling looks that were so hot Dustin feared the paint
would start peeling from the walls.
Kate Steele

It was those looks that made him think of his own situation. Though he was
seeing someone, Jerry Knowles, on a fairly regular basis, there was something missing.
Jerry was nice, attentive when they were together and the sex was decent even hot at
times but… and that’s where the problem was. The proverbial “but.” When the thought
of your relationship was qualified by a “but,” all was not as it should be, Dustin mused.
And then there was Chad Sutter. Dustin was aware of the stares that Chad had
been bestowing upon him. It was impossible to ignore the waves of heat they
generated. They swept relentlessly down his spine, tightened his sphincter and lodged
in his cock. It was all he could do not to sprout wood and spontaneously combust. They
were the kind of looks that when sent his way, if he dared meet them, challenged the
paint peeling ability of Crewe’s blistering regard for Ethan.
It was beyond disconcerting. Chad was more than handsome but he seemed to
be such a calm, solid person. The kind of guy who was clever, quiet and competent. The
kind of guy you’d never think of in terms of scorching hot sex. And yet when Dustin
looked in his slate-gray eyes, sometimes there was something so wild, so incredibly
primitive and fierce, he wasn’t sure if he wanted to run or throw himself at Chad’s feet.
He had the oddest notion that the choice wouldn’t matter. The results would be the
same either way. Those who ran from predators were eaten just as surely as those
caught standing still.
The thought made him shudder, not with apprehension but with anticipation.
Was it that glimmering bit of feral heat Chad directed his way that made Dustin liken
him to a predator? God knew the man walked with the grace of an animal well versed
in stalking its prey. He certainly had the sleek, athletic body of a hunter. Still there was
something deceptive about Chad’s appearance. He projected this tranquil and serene
aura while inside something wicked lived.
“Dustin?”
Dustin jumped. “What?” He refocused his eyes on Ethan.
“Whoa. Where did you go? You were looking a little wigged out there.”
“I was thinking about the way Chad sometimes looks at me.”
Kate Steele
Hoosier Werewolf 2: Who Let The Wolf Out
- 5 -
“Like he wants to eat you up?”
“That’s exactly what I mean. I see Crewe give you those same looks.”
“I know.”
The dreamy sound of Ethan’s voice made Dustin grin. “You love it. Hell, I guess
I can’t blame you, but did you ever think there was something strange about those two?
There’s an odd connection there. They’re not related but I’ve heard them call each other,
brother.”
“That’s easily explained. They were in the same college fraternity,” Ethan
answered.
“Hmm, I suppose that could be it. It just seems like more.”
Both brothers turned their gazes on the two men who sat at a table across the
room.
* * *
“Dustin has a boyfriend.”
Chad Sutter turned away from the dance floor where a crowd of happy, horny
and sweaty people were shaking it to the music. He turned to face the speaker. Crewe
Jackson, his closest friend, was giving him a very neutral, casual look. Other than his
fingers drumming on the table Chad gave nothing away.
“Says who?”
“Dustin. He was telling Ethan about this guy he’s been seeing for the last couple
of months.”
“Serious?”
Crewe shrugged. “Can’t say. He didn’t go into that much detail but apparently
they see each other quite a bit. They’ve exchanged apartment keys. What’s that tell
you?”
Chad continued to drum his fingers on the table. The idea of someone touching
Dustin made his temperature rise. Since he’d discovered Dustin was his mate several
weeks ago, Chad had begun making plans to claim him. The thought that Dustin might
Kate Steele

- 6 -
actually be lost to him was unbearable. Tendrils of anger and frustration began to
weave their way through his insides. He growled when Crewe touched him.
“Down, man. This isn’t the time or place to let the wolf out.”
Chad growled again, the sound low, rough and raw. He could barely speak.
“Someone is trying to claim my mate. He’s mine.”
Shocked at the intense feelings that churned within him, Chad struggled to calm
himself. Crewe was right. This wasn’t the time or place to let the wolf take control.
Chad was proud of his ability to stay calm under pressure. In the courtroom his cool
demeanor while under fire was legendary. Funny how this one human had the power
to bring out the wolf in him. The wolf was all about passion, primitive emotions and
needs. The wolf was the fire inside the man.
He took a deep, calming breath, a breath that brought him a whiff of Dustin’s
fascinating scent. Ethan and Dustin were returning from the bar, drinks in hand. That
bracing scent marched in, opening places inside him that had been closed off while
stirring needs Chad had never felt before. He set his sights on Dustin, giving the young
man a look that was ablaze with desire. A wave of satisfaction swept through him at the
faint flush of Dustin’s cheeks, the thickening behind his zipper and the unmistakable
musky tang of his arousal. No way was Chad losing him. Dustin’s supposed boyfriend
didn’t know it, but he’d acquired some very determined competition.
Chapter One
Chad sat at his desk going over the legal briefs from his last case before handing
them over to be filed. He was meticulous about making sure every ‘T’ was crossed and
every ‘I’ dotted. So far, the morning had been nothing but routine. With little to distract
him, he’d had a bit of trouble keeping his mind off Crewe’s late night revelation about
Dustin’s involvement with another man. The thought still rankled and Chad found his
fingers tapping on the desk in agitation. Grimacing, he balled them into a fist.
He closed the folder before him and was in the act of putting it into his out
basket when the phone rang. Picking it up, he answered with a curt, “Yes?”
“Call for you on line two, Mr. Sutter. It’s Crewe Jackson.”
“Thank you, Patricia,” Chad replied, striving to soften his tone. He hit the button
for line two. “Crewe? What’s up?”
“Are you sitting down? ’Cause you’re not going to like this.”
“What?”
“Dustin’s been arrested.”
“What! What the hell for?”
“Dealing drugs.”
“You’ve got to be shitting me.”
“I wish I was. Ethan’s frantic. Can you take Dustin’s case?”
“Hell yes, I’ll take his case. Where is he now?”
“City jail.”
“I’ll get right on it. He’ll be out as soon as I can arrange bail.”
Chad hung up the phone, quickly clearing his desk and grabbing his coat.
Stopping long enough at his assistant’s desk to clear his appointments, he rushed out of
the office building that housed his practice and that of several other lawyers. He fished

his keys out of his pocket and using his remote, unlocked the car and started the engine.
Opening the car door he flung his coat inside, slid behind the wheel and mused that like
a cowboy of old, he was riding to the rescue. With a self-deprecating snort, he could
only be glad that in this case, it was horsepower and not horse flesh that carried him.
* * *
Dustin sat on a hard, unpadded bench with his head in his hands. The fact that
he was in jail still made his head swim. How could the police have possibly found
ecstasy in his apartment? And so much of it, over two-thousand pills! It was a
nightmare he kept hoping to wake up from but the wood under his butt, the concrete
under his feet and the iron bars that locked him in were all too real.
Real too had been the handcuffs the police had slapped on his wrists and the trip
to the station in the backseat of a police car. He’d been photographed, fingerprinted and
given the opportunity to make a phone call. Thank God Crewe and Ethan had been
home. Crewe promised to call Chad and wasn’t that just the most pleasant thought
Almost as welcome as the thought of what Nick would say. Oh fuck. Dustin wasn’t sure
which of the two men he least wanted to face.
At the sound of the door opening that led to the holding cells, Dustin looked up,
his eyes widening in astonishment. A police officer was escorting what appeared to be a
tall and rather bulky, blonde woman in a flaming red dress. They stopped in front of his
cell. “Got some company for you,” the officer snickered.
“I thought there were separate cells for women,” Dustin commented, appalled at
the idea of women being forced to share cells with men.
“This ain’t no lady.”
Looking again, Dustin now understood the policeman’s mirth. This was indeed
no lady. Closer inspection revealed the woman was a man in drag. It was all he could
do not to sigh out loud in resignation. Being gay and hanging out in various clubs,
Dustin had met his share of transvestites. Some were perfectly nice and as normal as
anyone else could claim to be but others had a tendency to be a little over the top. Please
let this be a regular guy in a dress and not a hysterical drama queen. The officer opened the

cell, waved in the new prisoner and relocked the door. He walked away chortling to
himself.
Dustin scowled at the man’s retreating back. “Whatever happened to simple
courtesy?” he muttered.
“Don’t mind him. He’s a horse’s ass. Hello, sugar. What are you in for?”
Shifting his gaze to his new cellmate, Dustin found himself being openly ogled.
He debated his options then shrugged. “Dealing drugs.”
“Oh, naughty, naughty. You’re a bad boy. I could tell just by looking at you. I
happen to like bad boys, especially ones that look as yummy as you. This jail time gig is
looking up. How about we get acquainted before the rest of the gang shows up? My
name’s Wanda. What’s yours?”
Wanda proceeded to join Dustin on his bench, crowding close and going so far as
to press a hand to his thigh. Dustin raised an eyebrow, lifted Wanda’s hand away and
scooted a bit, putting some space between them. “Wanda, I’m all for being friendly but
um, you’re not my type. And did you say rest of the gang?”
“Oh sure, sugar. The whole club got busted. This guy in the audience kept up
with the catcalls and one of the girls finally jumped him. The whole crowd went nuts.
Any minute now this place is gonna be packed with the gang from Transitions.”
“Transitions?”
“It’s a new club, sugar. Very hot. You don’t get out much, do you?” Wanda
batted “her” eyelashes in a way Dustin supposed she thought was sexy. “You stick with
me, bad boy. I’ll broaden your horizons so wide you’ll never have to say, ‘now I’ve seen
everything.’ You’ll have seen it, touched it, tasted it and done it. It’ll be an experience
you’ll never forget.”
Oh, God. Dustin just managed not to roll his eyes.
“I’ll just bet it would but I’m not interested. I’m seeing someone,” Dustin hinted.
Rising to his feet, he walked to the front of the cell, glancing back as he went. Wanda
rose as well, following with an exaggerated sway of her hips.
Kate Steele

- 10 -
At that moment, the door at the front of the holding cell area opened and began
disgorging a parade of police officers and prisoners. The newly minted inmates were an
eclectic mix of transvestites like Wanda, to guys dressed in simple jeans and tees.
Dustin’s cell door was opened and men in dresses fluttered in. The cacophony
produced by this flock of painted and glittering jailbirds was nearly deafening.
Dustin stood back and stared in dismay until a hand slid over his ass. He jumped
and whipped around, coming face to face with one of his new cellmates, a slim man in a
lime green, satin sheath wearing a brunette wig styled in a sleek pageboy.
“What do we have here?” the new arrival asked in a smooth, cultured voice. The
man wore coral lipstick, heavy foundation and false lashes so thick Dustin could only
wonder how he was able to lift his lids.
Wanda shoved herself between Dustin and his new found admirer. “Back off,
Betty. I saw him first.”
“Oh, but look at those muscles. There’s more than enough of him to go around.”
The man Wanda addressed as Betty reached around and squeezed Dustin’s bicep.
“Hands off, floozy. He’s mine.”
Drawn by Wanda and Betty’s fledgling argument, the rest of the “ladies” formed
a circle to watch the fun unfold. Dustin desperately wanted to disappear. The last thing
he wanted was to be the cause of a cross-dressers cat fight. The fates, it seemed, decided
to give him a break. His luck took a definite turn for the better in the form of the police
officer who appeared at the door to his cell.
“Parks, Dustin! Front and center. Your bail’s been posted.”
Heaving a deep sigh of relief, Dustin squirmed through the crowd and made his
way to the front. The officer opened the cell, let him out and secured the door behind
him. About to follow in the policeman’s wake, a hand reached through the bars and
grabbed his forearm.
Turning back, Dustin found Wanda smiling at him. “I would have rocked your
world, sugar.”
Kate Steele

- 11 -
Dustin grinned. His relief and being sprung from jail made him nearly giddy.
“My world’s rocky enough at the moment, but thanks.” He leaned in and pressed a
quick kiss to Wanda’s cheek before walking away to a chorus of sentimental ahhhs.
Out once again in the police station proper, Dustin sobered as he was lead to a
counter where he signed for the return of his personal items. He put the money he’d
had on him back in his wallet and stuck it in his pocket then slid his wrist watch in
place on his arm. That done, he headed for the front door and found Chad seated in a
chair in the waiting area. Chad, dressed in a finely cut business suit, wore what Dustin
had come to realize was his usual calm expression. There was no sign of the sensual
man who’d sent him looks so hot they all but blistered his skin. This Chad was
buttoned down and all business.
I wish I felt as calm as he looks. Dustin’s heart was pounding, the stress and anxiety
he’d tried hard to hold in check, choosing now to break their bonds. Chad rose to meet
him and the two of them shook hands. Dustin was sure his grip was a little too hard
and that he held the contact just a little too long, but he didn’t give a damn. He’d never
been so happy to see anyone in his life. Apparently Chad understood and didn’t mind
the contact.
He increased it by giving Dustin a reassuring pat on the shoulder. “Are you all
right?”
Dustin nodded and expelled a deep breath. “Yeah. I can’t tell you how glad I am
to see a friendly face. I take it Ethan or Crewe called you?”
“Crewe did.”
“So you know what they arrested me for.”
“Felony possession with intent to distribute. Yes, I know.”
“I still can’t believe it,” Dustin said, the stark reality of it hitting him again when
a police officer walked in the front door with a prisoner in handcuffs. “Can we please
get out of here?” A surge of desperate need to be away from this place struck so hard,
he had to rein in the impulse to slam through the front doors and run as fast and as far
away as possible.
Kate Steele
Hoosier Werewolf 2: Who Let The Wolf Out
- 12 -
“Of course. My car’s this way.”
They walked in silence to Chad’s car. Once inside, Dustin laid his head back
against the headrest with a sigh. He felt a headache coming on and grimaced, rubbing
his forehead. Opening his mouth to speak he turned his head to see Chad silently
watching him. The expression on Chad’s face silenced him. It was a look that was all at
once fierce, tender and filled with concern. It was possessive yet overlaid with
determination as though Chad was reining in his desire, waiting for a signal from
Dustin to let go.
Dustin’s heart and stomach clenched while his breath picked up speed. Before he
could say anything Chad turned away and started the car, breaking the spell that held
him. He sat up and buckled his seat belt, his mind racing while Chad steered the car out
of the parking lot. If he’d questioned it before, he did no longer. Chad wanted him.
Dustin wasn’t about to deny that the feeling was mutual, but first he’d have to
break it off with Jerry. He’d never been the kind to play games like some guys he knew.
Pitting one lover against another or dangling several at once held no appeal. Dustin
was, most of the time, a happy go lucky kind of guy but he was serious when it came to
his love life. He was loyal to his lovers and he expected the same from them. When it
came right down to it, as fun as dating was, he wanted a solid, long-term relationship
with someone he could love and trust.
Even though it complicated things, he could only be grateful that this trouble he
found himself in hadn’t affected whatever Chad was feeling for him. Taking a steadying
breath, Dustin broke the silence between them. “How did you get me bailed out so
quick? I thought I’d have to spend the entire night in jail, if not longer.”
“Luckily the charges against you were one of a group that already has preset bail
amounts assigned to them. I just had to arrange for the bail to be paid, otherwise you’d
have had to wait for a formal arraignment and a judge to set bail.”
“At least I got accused of a convenient crime,” Dustin commented with tired
sarcasm which he quickly swallowed. “Sorry, I shouldn’t bitch, I should be thanking
Kate Steele

- 13 -
you. I guess I’ll be doing that a lot before this is over. So Ethan and Crewe came up with
my bail?”
“It’s okay and no, they didn’t.”
“Nick?”
“Um, no, not exactly.”
“What do you mean?”
“It was a little steep.”
“How much?”
Chad named a figure that made Dustin blanch. “Holy shit. If they didn’t… then
who?”
“Me.”
“You? You put up my bail?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
“Because Crewe and Ethan and Nick are my friends and because…” Chad
glanced over at Dustin. “Look, it’s no big deal. I didn’t risk anything. It’s not like you’re
going to run away and make me lose the bail money.”
“Still, that’s a lot of trust to place in someone you barely know.”
“Maybe, but in this case I don’t think so. I know it’s not escaped your notice that
my um, feelings for you are more than just friendly. I want you to know, I didn’t do this
with any ulterior motive in mind.”
“I didn’t say that. I didn’t even think it.”
“Good, because I don’t want you thinking I’m trying to buy…”
“Don’t even say it. The thought never crossed my mind.”
“Thanks.”
“You’re welcome. Although once again, it should be me thanking you.” Dustin
sighed. “So, are you taking me home?” He’d been watching the passing scenery and
street signs, what could be seen of them in the growing darkness. The route they were
on indicated they were heading for his apartment.
Kate Steele
Hoosier Werewolf 2: Who Let The Wolf Out
- 14 -
“Yes, unless there’s somewhere else you’d rather go.”
“No, this is fine. I’ve got a headache coming on. I just want take something and
sack out for a while.”
“That sounds like a reasonable idea. Do you feel well enough to answer a few
questions?”
Dustin snorted. “Sure. I’m not gonna pass out or anything.”
Chad smiled. “That’s good news. First of all, I wanted to give you a little
warning. Since I’m your attorney, I’m going to ask questions that might be potentially
embarrassing or intrusive. I want you to understand that I don’t do this because of any
personal motivation. Mostly.”
“Mostly?”
“Well I do have a question I want to ask that I admit is based purely on my own
curiosity. For the most part though, the questions I ask will be necessary in preparing
your defense and I need you to be truthful with me. Can you do that?”
“Yes. Whatever you need.”
“All right. The first thing I want to ask is why haven’t you told me you’re not
guilty? With most clients it’s the first thing out of their mouths.”
“Television.”
“What?”
“Television, you know, criminal shows. Every time someone is accused of a
crime they tell the cops they’re innocent and the cops say, ‘That’s what they all say’.”
“That’s what they all say,” Chad finished in unison with Dustin then laughed. “I
see what you mean.”
“I just thought I’d save myself from sounding like a cliché even though I am
innocent.”
“I know that. I just wondered.”
“So you believe me?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
Kate Steele
Hoosier Werewolf 2: Who Let The Wolf Out
- 15 -
“Would you believe me if I told you I could smell it if you lied to me?”
Dustin turned his head and met the quick glance Chad sent him. Slowly he
nodded. “I believe I would.”
“Ethan said you were smart.”
Dustin shot him a rueful smile. “Ethan is prejudiced.”
“From what he’s told me, he has reason to be. So you’re a graduate student?”
“Yes, I’m working on a degree in chemical engineering.”
“That’s admirable, though not a good thing if we end up going to trial.”
“What do you mean and how will we not go to trial?”
“First of all the term chemical engineer suggests chemicals or in other words,
drugs. It’ll stick in a judge’s or jury’s mind.”
“But drugs aren’t my field of study. I’m concentrating on polymers and
compounds that can be used for things like body armor for troops or law enforcement.”
“We’ll have to emphasize that if your case comes to trial. Which brings me to the
second part of your question. I have an investigator looking into some things. Things
that may shed a light on how those drugs came to be in your apartment. If we can prove
they were planted, the charges will be dropped.”
“That would be great, but it’s also something I can’t help you with. I don’t know
how they got there or who would put them there. Do you know where they found
them? In one of my stereo speakers. The cleverest place I can think of to hide things is
under the bed.” Chad’s deep chuckle soothed Dustin’s ruffled sensibilities.
“You may be a bigger help than you think possible. Let’s approach this in a
logical manner. Who has access to your apartment? How many people have keys?”
“Me of course. There’s a spare at the house so Nick and Ethan can come in
whenever they want. My landlady, Mrs. Winters, has a spare. And there’s just one other
person.”
“And that would be?”
“Jerry Knowles,” Dustin admitted hesitantly. “We’ve uh, been seeing each other
for a while.”
Kate Steele
Hoosier Werewolf 2: Who Let The Wolf Out
- 16 -
“Yes, I heard,” Chad replied dryly. “So let me ask you this. Did you bring those
drugs into your apartment?”
“No.”
“Do you think Nick or Ethan did?”
“Hell, no!”
“What about Crewe? He’s a possibility now that he and Ethan are together. He’s
had access to whatever is in the house you share with Nick and Ethan which would
include the key to your apartment.”
“No, I definitely don’t believe that. Crewe’s a straight up guy. He wouldn’t have
anything to do with drugs.”
“What about Mrs. Winters?”
“She’s seventy-three!”
“Does she have any relatives or friends who come and go freely in her home?
They could possibly have used her spare to get into your place.”
“I don’t think so. From what she’s told me, all her relatives live out of town. Her
kids finance trips for her to come visit them. I rented the apartment from her about a
year ago and I don’t think she’s had more than a dozen visitors in that time. Most of
those were elderly ladies like her and the occasional drop in from her minister.”
“So if it’s not you, Nick, Ethan, Crewe, Mrs. Winters or anyone connected with
her that leaves one person.”
“Jerry? You can’t be serious.”
“Do you know where Jerry is right now?”
“I imagine he’s home.”
“I can tell you for a fact he’s not. Jerry Knowles has left town and no one seems
to know where he’s gone.”
Chapter Two
“Are you sure?” Dustin demanded, “We don’t exactly live in each other’s back
pockets but he usually let’s me know if he’s going to be away.”
“My investigator checked with Knowles’ employer. Knowles claimed there was a
death in the family and asked for a week off. He left two days ago.”
“Well, that’s a reasonable explanation.”
“Knowles’ only known living relative is his mother and my investigator spoke
with her. She’s healthy as a horse. She also substantiates the fact that there are no other
relatives in Jerry’s life.”
“I don’t understand. What’s all this mean?”
Chad looked over at the young man sitting in his car and his heart twisted in
sympathy. Dustin was one of those genuinely nice people who saw only the good in
others. He was incredibly smart, but also amazingly naïve. It was an endearing quality.
One that was about to get him hurt.
“My investigator, a former police officer, has some contacts within the police
force. He tells me Knowles’ name has come up in an investigation they’re running. He’s
a suspected drug dealer. They also think there’s a leak in the department. They had a
sting planned, but some of the players they’d earmarked for pick up have gone
underground. We think Knowles is one of those who were warned. I believe, and my
investigator concurs, that Knowles planted the drugs in your apartment.”
“But why?”
“To divert suspicion from himself. Do you know what brought the police to your
door?”
Dustin shook his head.
Kate Steele
Hoosier Werewolf 2: Who Let The Wolf Out
- 18 -
“An anonymous tip. A man called claiming that he found a couple of tabs of
ecstasy on his kid. He said he got his kid to give him the name of the guy he got the
pills from. The name he gave the cops was yours.”
“But that’s ludicrous! If I was selling drugs I wouldn’t be handing my name out
with them.”
“The tipster said his kid’s a freshman at the university and that’s how he knew
who you were. He’d seen you on campus.”
“That’s quite a story. It’s a neat little package with a ribbon tied around it for
good measure.”
“It’s too neat.”
“Does anybody else think that?”
“As a matter of fact, they do. I can’t go into details but let’s just say you’ve got
some guys on your side down at the precinct. Between them and me and my
investigator we’re going to get you out of this.”
“I still don’t understand how Jerry would think that diverting suspicion to me
would get him off the hook.”
“I’ve seen a picture of Knowles. Did you ever note the resemblance between the
two of you?”
“No, not really. I mean were both about the same height, same weight, same hair
color… oh, shit.”
“Exactly. I think he deliberately picked you out to play scapegoat for just this
kind of scenario. It would be easy to mistake one of you for the other. Which leads me
to believe that he also knows who the leak is in the department. Why have this
contingency plan in place unless you know there’s a good chance you’ll get to use it?
And the only way he could count on that is knowing there was someone who’d warn
him.”
“So in other words, he suckered me from the very beginning. I was nothing but,
what did you call it, his contingency plan? Talk about a blow to the ego.”
Kate Steele

Remaining silent, from the corner of his eye Chad saw Dustin turn away to look
out the window. He was obviously not thrilled at the topic of conversation and Chad
could certainly relate. Dustin had been hurt by someone he apparently trusted. If that
wasn’t bad enough, his personal life had just been marched out into the light of day to
be examined by who? A man he was just getting to know. Someone who might be a
potential lover. Someone he’d want to see him in the very best light.
Chad was determined to let Dustin know that his worth hadn’t suffered in
Chad’s eyes. If anything it made Chad want him more. It brought his protective
instincts to the fore. No one would ever hurt his mate again. He’d make sure of it, but
right at this moment there was a question he needed an answer to. Chad knew it was
selfish with Dustin hurting this way but he had to know.
“What about the heart?” he asked, softly.
“What heart?” Dustin answered, his question distracted and confused.
“Your heart.”
“What about it?”
“You said it was a blow to your ego that Jerry had used you. Was it a blow to
your heart too? Do you love him?”
Dustin sighed. “In a way. We had fun together, you know? I genuinely liked
him, loved him I guess, whatever you want to call it. I mean not in an ‘I want to marry
you and live with you forever’ kind of way but I thought we were more than friends.
Hell, we were more than friends, we were lovers. I can’t believe he’d do this. I… I
thought he liked me.”
Chad turned the car onto a quiet, residential street and quickly found the house
that matched Dustin’s address. Dustin’s apartment was over Mrs. Winter’s garage. He
pulled into the driveway and turned off the ignition. Turning to Dustin, he examined
him closely. A frown marred the space between Dustin’s eyebrows, his shoulders were
slumped but the tension and unhappiness were obvious in the way his fingers picked at
an invisible spot on his jeans.

As bad as he felt for Dustin, Chad was also elated. Dustin hadn’t been in love
with Jerry. He’d cared yes, but he’d recover. Chad was going to make it his personal
business to heal whatever wounds Jerry’s disloyalty and betrayal had inflicted. Starting
now.
“He probably did like you.”
Dustin snorted. “Yeah, I’m sure.”
“It may have started out with him wanting to use you but I seriously don’t see
how he couldn’t have come to like you. I wouldn’t have been able to resist.”
The lingering glance Dustin gave him from beneath his lashes made Chad’s
stomach flip. Bold yet strangely vulnerable and innocent, it sent hot blood rushing to
Chad’s groin. Dustin’s obvious squirm communicated his embarrassment. Chad was
willing to bet if enough light had been coming in the windows, there would have been a
blush heating Dustin’s face. Unable to stop himself, he reached out and brushed his
fingers over the skin and light stubble on Dustin’s cheek.
“Do you blush like Ethan?” he asked softly.
“Not as much, thank God, but yeah, occasionally. It’s stupid.”
“I think it’s sweet.”
“That’s ’cause you’re not the one doing it.”
“Probably.”
Dustin looked away, his eyes widening slightly as he looked out the window.
“There’s Mrs. Winters.”
Chad looked over to see an elderly lady peeking out her front door. “Come on,
she probably wants to know what’s going on.”
The two of them exited the car and approached Mrs. Winter’s front door. It was
only as they got closer that they could see she was flanked by a tall man wearing a
minister’s collar. Chad frowned slightly. Something about the situation was giving him
a distinct feeling of unease. His feelings were about to be proven correct. Before Dustin
was able to do more than utter a greeting, Mrs. Winters was informing him that he was
being evicted.
Kate Steele
Hoosier Werewolf 2: Who Let The Wolf Out
- 21 -
“Evicted? Why? I’ve always paid my rent on time and never made excessive
noise or anything.”
“I will not have a drug dealer living under my roof. I’ve never been so
embarrassed in my entire life. The police showing up at my door with the entire
neighborhood looking on! I’m sorry, Mr. Parks, but you’ll have to go. I inspected the
premises for damages. Since everything is as it should be, I’ve written you a check
refunding your security deposit.” She handed him the check. “You’re rent is paid up
until the twenty-fifth and you have just that long to vacate the premises.” The door was
summarily closed in their faces.
“Well this just keeps getting better and better,” Dustin commented calmly.
Chad took a deep breath. He could almost smell the slow burn of Dustin’s anger
as it blossomed and grew. While he couldn’t blame him for the emotion, Chad knew he
had to head off a public outburst. The young man was in enough trouble as it was. They
didn’t need Mrs. Winter’s calling the police.
“Move in with me,” Chad blurted out.
Dustin looked at him in shock. “What?”
Chad took a deep breath. “I need you to stay close to work with me on your case.
You’re going have to be out of here in a few days. It’s possible but unlikely you’ll find
another apartment in that time which means your only other option is to move back
home. That’s going mean a round trip commute of nearly four hours everyday between
home and school. Stay with me until we get this mess settled. You’ll still be close to
school and you can even hunt for a new place.”
“What about my stuff?”
“You have furniture?”
“Yeah.”
“Storage?”
“I suppose. Are you sure you want to do this?”
“Didn’t we go through something like this over the bail money?”
“Well, yeah, but…”
Kate Steele
Hoosier Werewolf 2: Who Let The Wolf Out
- 22 -
“No buts. Go upstairs and pack enough for a couple of days. We’ll come back in
a day or two so you can decide what else you want to keep with you and what you
want to go in storage.”
Dustin gave him a sort of exasperated yet wondering look. “You’re the most
decisive man I’ve ever met. A problem comes up and wham, you solve it.”
“I don’t like lollygagging around.”
Dustin turned and headed for the outside stairs that led up to his apartment. He
looked back. Although he was frowning slightly he shot Chad a small, teasing smile. “I
think you just like being bossy.”
Chad returned his smile with interest. “That too.”
* * *
By the time Dustin packed and they made the trip to Chad’s house his headache
was ramping up and he was ready to crash. He’d been arrested at nine a.m., spent
twelve hours in jail, and then had been evicted from his apartment. Not exactly the
most stellar day in his life. The highlight had been Chad. The man had a way of taking
charge, smoothing the way and making it sound like with just a little effort, everything
was going to be fine. To say Dustin was grateful was putting it mildly.
Trouble was, now what? He wasn’t sure what to think or how to feel. Okay sure,
a few minutes ago he’d been planning to break up with Jerry but shit, knowing that
Jerry hadn’t cared for him at all had hurt. Not to mention how pathetic it made him
look. Humiliation seemed to be the order of the day and he was being served a giant-
sized portion. Being used was bad enough, having Chad know about it was worse and
talking about it had been like having salt rubbed in the wound. At first. As usual, Chad
had done and said things that made him feel whole again. Dustin was beginning to feel
a little in awe of the man.
Chad’s home was located in one of the older, classier suburbs across town and
much like the man, it exuded a calm yet welcoming warmth. The house was all on one
level, the outside made of worn, weathered stone in shades of beige, brown and cream.
It was located on a lot several acres in size, surrounded and separated from its
Kate Steele

- 23 -
neighbors by thick stands of trees. Tangled undergrowth began where the neatly
clipped lawn left off. Chad parked his car in a garage that was big enough for four
vehicles. A black jeep sat in one of the empty bays.
“Nice jeep,” Dustin commented, levering himself out of the car.
“Thanks. It’s an indulgence, I know, but I like to drive it on the weekends.”
He could hear the slight embarrassment in Chad’s voice. Dustin had the
impression that while Chad apparently had money, he wasn’t one to make a big deal
about it, nor flaunt it either. His car was nice, top of the line but conservative and his
house, while good sized, was hardly a mansion.
Dustin retrieved his suitcase from the trunk and followed Chad through a
connecting door that led into a large kitchen. It appeared to be well equipped, the
appliances gleaming softly in black and chrome. At the far end of the kitchen were three
open archways. To the right was a formal living room, the first room he saw when he
came in through the front door. To the left was a more relaxed living area complete
with a stone fireplace, plasma television, stereo, a cushy looking overstuffed sofa and a
recliner. Unlike the formal living room -- which was decorated in a style that was
reserved, even borderline prim and proper -- this room in shades of cream, brown and
gold was friendly and inviting.
The third open doorway straight ahead was the beginning of a long hallway.
Chad led Dustin down the length of it, pointing out various rooms as they went. The
first to the left was the guest bathroom. The second to the right was Chad’s home office.
The doorway across from it guarded a large closet, and the last two doors that stood
opposite each other at the end of the hallway were bedrooms.
“This is your room. I’m afraid you’ll have to use the guest bathroom. Unlike the
master bedroom across the hall, this one doesn’t have an attached bath,” Chad
explained apologetically.
“Hey, I’m not going to complain. I appreciate you letting me stay with you,
especially on such short notice and all.”
Kate Steele
Hoosier Werewolf 2: Who Let The Wolf Out
- 24 -
“It’s my pleasure. So, are you hungry? I could put something together real quick
or call for take out of some kind.”
Dustin considered for a moment. He really did want to spend more time in
Chad’s company. The man intrigued him but truth was, things were catching up with
him. Jerry’s betrayal had been a shock. That, in combination with everything else that
had happened today, in addition to the headache that wouldn’t let up, had Dustin
feeling rather rocky. He wasn’t used to this feeling of being out of control and
vulnerable. He didn’t feel threatened by Chad, far from it. Yet he wanted to deal with
the man from more solid ground.
“You know, I think I just want to go to bed. This has been a hell of a day.”
“I understand,” Chad turned to leave then snapping his fingers, swung back
around. “I almost forgot. Ethan wanted you to call.” Chad looked at his watch. “It’s not
quite eleven. I’ll bet he’s still up.”
“Oh, jeez, I should have thought of that myself.”
“Don’t worry about it. You’ve had a lot on your mind. Feel free to use the
phone,” Chad offered, gesturing to the one that sat on the bedside table. “I’ll see you in
the morning.”
Dustin returned his smile. “G’night.”
He sat on the bed, his gaze on the closed door and sighed. How did everything get
so fucked up? Despite Chad’s confidence and optimism that they’d get to the bottom of
this and prove Dustin’s innocence, he still felt like a prisoner facing the guillotine. The
blade was balanced over his neck and just the right bit of pressure would send it
plunging down.
Dustin winced. He’d experienced too many new things today, most of them
unpleasant. Now he was spending the night in a strange bed, in a room not his own.
The feeling of being totally disconnected from everything familiar grew and grew until
he desperately reached for the phone and dialed the one number that might bring him a
little peace.
His call was answered on the second ring. “Hello?”
Kate Steele
Hoosier Werewolf 2: Who Let The Wolf Out
- 25 -
“Ethan?”
“Dustin! Are you all right?”
“Yeah, I’m okay,” Dustin answered, though he suddenly felt like crying. He
swallowed hard and blinked his stinging eyelids repeatedly.
“Chad got you out okay?”
“Yeah, bro, Chad’s been great. Thanks for calling him.”
“I knew he’d help you. Hey hold on minute, Nick wants to talk to you.”
Oh, fuck. Dustin braced himself.
“Dustin?”
“Yeah?”
“You all right, bro?”
“Yeah but… oh, man, Nick, everything’s so fucked up. I didn’t do this. You
know I didn’t do this, don’t you?”
“Fuck yeah I know you didn’t. Jeez, Dustin, I know you, kid. You’re no druggy
and you sure as hell wouldn’t be selling that shit.”
Dustin felt a wave of relief crash over him. “Thanks, I just…well, I just needed to
know.”
“Hey, no one who knows you would believe you’re a drug dealer. Shit, you
wouldn’t dare be one ’cause you know I’d kick your ass.”
Dustin laughed. “That’s for damn sure.”
Nick’s chuckle was warm and easy. “So I’m assuming you’re out of jail and
home.”
“Well, I’m out of jail, but I’m calling from Chad’s. I got evicted.”
“Old lady Winters kicked you out?”
“Yeah. She said I embarrassed her and she didn’t want a drug dealer living
under her roof.”
“Son of a bitch. I never did like that old bat. So when are you moving your stuff
out? When are you coming home?”
Kate Steele
Hoosier Werewolf 2: Who Let The Wolf Out
- 26 -
“I’m not. Chad has an extra bedroom. He invited me to stay with him so I can
still be close to school. He says it’ll be better too if I’m close on account of the case.”
“I s’pose that makes sense, but what about the stuff in your apartment?”
“I’m gonna put it in storage for now until I find a new place.”
“You’re still going to need help moving it. Yell when you’re ready. Ethan, Crewe
and I’ll come over and give you a hand.”
“Will do, thanks, bro.”
“Hey, we Parks brothers stick together. Right?”
“Right.”
“Get some rest. Call if you need anything.”
“I will. Tell Ethan I’ll call him tomorrow.”
“You got it. Hold on a sec.” Dustin could hear a muffled conversation taking
place. “Ethan says if you can’t reach him here, he’ll be at Crewe’s. You got the
number?”
“Yeah, I’ve got it.”
“All right. Take it easy, bro. Bye.”
“Bye.” Dustin disconnected the call and flopped back on the bed.
That had gone far better than he’d thought it would but then he should have
known better. Nick was nothing if not fair and open minded. The only time he’d ever
jumped Dustin about anything was when he’d had it coming. It was funny but Nick, in
addition to being the eldest, had always been something of an authority figure for
Dustin and Ethan. Not that their parents weren’t, but Nick just seemed to have this
mile-wide responsible streak that encompassed not only his own behavior but that of
his brothers’ as well. He also had an innate ability to apply his authority in a subtle and
judicious manner. Ethan and Dustin rarely chaffed under Nick’s almost imperceptible
guidance.
Dustin yawned forcing himself to his feet to unpack before he passed out. He
emptied his suitcase, hanging up jeans and shirts in the closet then filling the top
drawer of the dresser with briefs and socks. The second drawer received a few pairs of

sweat pants and some older tees that he wore around the house. He kept one set of
these out and changed into them, bundling his dirty clothes and laying them neatly on
the padded chair that stood to one side of the dresser.
Leaving his bedroom, he walked quietly down to the bathroom with his
toiletries, razor, hairbrush and the like. After using the facilities he washed up, brushed
his teeth and made his weary way to bed. Dustin debated a moment, shrugged then
shucked his clothes off. He always slept in the nude and didn’t think Chad would
mind. While his body slipped between the sheets, his mind played with the question of
what Chad wore to bed.
The thought of finding out brought a tingle to his groin and he reached down,
rubbing his fingers over his slowly burgeoning erection. The light, teasing touch felt
good. Another jaw-cracking yawn took him and he struggled to concentrate on the
pleasurable sensation emanating from his cock. Didn’t I read somewhere that orgasms are
good for headaches? Moaning softly, he closed his eyes, snuggled into a more comfortable
position and fell asleep mid-stroke.
Two hours later, Dustin woke with a start from a dream in which Mrs. Winters
was pushing his sofa out the apartment window. It landed with a crash, the frame
splintering and wood flying in all directions. One fragment came winging toward him
and though he ducked, it slammed him right in the head.
With a gasp Dustin sat up, hands flying to his temples. The headache that earlier
was been tolerable, had grown to monstrous proportions. It throbbed and burned like a
crazed marauder from hell, the pain twisting his stomach, making him nauseous.
Unfamiliar with the objects in his new bedroom he fumbled for and nearly knocked the
bedside lamp off the table. A wild scramble and thump saw it set back upright and he
managed to turn it on to its lowest setting, but even that sent a searing shard of agony
straight through his skull.
Sitting on the side of the bed cursing softly, Dustin raised his head at the sound
of a soft knock on his door. “Dustin. Can I come in?”
“Yeah,” he managed.
Kate Steele
Hoosier Werewolf 2: Who Let The Wolf Out
- 28 -
The door opened and Chad walked in. He was bare-chested and wearing only a
light pair of sleep pants that dipped low and hung loosely from his hips. Even through
the pain, Dustin was able to admire the dark cloud of hair on his chest, his rock hard
abdomen and the shadowy trail that meandered straight down over sleek muscle to
disappear into the teasing waistline of those flimsy pants. Chad’s attire made him
suddenly conscious of his own nudity and he pulled the sheet over his lap.
“Are you all right?” Chad asked, eyes filled with concern. “I thought I heard
something fall.”
“I’m sorry I woke you. I almost knocked the lamp off the table.”
Chad squatted down in front of him drawing Dustin’s gaze. “You look like shit.
Are you sick?”
Dustin snorted then winced. “Headache from hell. It’s been coming on since I
was arrested. I thought I dodged the bullet but it got me.”
“Did you take anything?”
“No and my stomach’s rolling now. I’d probably lose it if I did.”
“I’ll be back in a minute. I think I have something that might help.”
Chad rose and walked out. Dustin remained right where he was, staying as still
as possible. Movement only made things worse. In just a few minutes Chad was back
with an assortment of items. The first thing he did was pop the top off the bottle of
ibuprofen he’d brought.
Shaking out a couple of tablets, he held them out to Dustin. “Back when we were
in college, there was a virulent strain of flu going around. Crewe caught it. He was
sicker than a dog, couldn’t hold anything down, not even water. After two days he was
dehydrated, desperate for something to drink. I just happened to bring some gingerale
to our room, so I offered him a little bit. He was able to keep it down along with some
aspirin even though his stomach still rebelled against anything else. I want you to take
these with some gingerale. I think it’ll settle your stomach and you need the pills to help
with the inflammation.”
“What inflammation?”
Kate Steele
Hoosier Werewolf 2: Who Let The Wolf Out
- 29 -
“The veins in your head. That’s what causes the actual headache pain. The veins
become inflamed and swell. And that’s also what this is for.” Chad held up another
item he’d brought. Dustin could hear a muffled rattle inside.
“An ice pack?”
“An ice pack. Now take your medicine like a good boy.” Dustin made a face at
Chad but did as he was told. “Now, here’s what we’re going to do.” Chad circled the
bed and climbed in on the other side. He seated himself with his back against the
headboard. “I want you to come here and lean back against me.”
Chapter Three
Eying Chad doubtfully but having no objections about getting close to the man,
Dustin shrugged, winced at the movement and carefully obeyed. It wasn’t like they
were about to indulge in a wild no-holds-barred fuck. He settled back against Chad
while Chad stretched a leg out on either side of his hips. Leaning his head back against
Chad’s chest Dustin groaned as the change in position made his head throb.
“Easy,” Chad soothed. “Just relax.”
Chad placed the ice pack on his head and Dustin had to admit, the cool weight of
it against his scalp felt good. Then Chad did something that felt even better. He began
to lightly massage Dustin’s temples.
“Oh, fuck, that feels good,” Dustin moaned then shivered.
“Shh, just take it easy. Let all the tension go.”
By degrees, Dustin felt his muscles go slack. Tension he hadn’t known he was
carrying flowed away, drained by the gentle pressure of Chad’s clever fingers. Firmly
yet gently, Chad rubbed over Dustin’s forehead, back over his temples and followed his
hairline above and around his ears. His fingers smoothed over the curve of Dustin’s
skull, lightly kneading the muscles of his neck where they met the back of his head.
Dustin uttered an occasional blissful moan, his heavy eyelids closing. He teetered
on the edge of sleep, surrounded by Chad’s warmth. When he heard Chad murmur,
“That’s right, pretty baby, so, so good.” He couldn’t muster the strength to reply. It was
the last thing he remembered before drifting to sleep.
* * *
Even after Dustin had fallen asleep, for a little while, Chad kept up his light
massage. It felt so good touching his mate, breathing in his scent, having Dustin’s
boneless weight resting against his chest and in his arms. Eventually Chad too began to
Kate Steele
Hoosier Werewolf 2: Who Let The Wolf Out
- 31 -
yawn. It had been a long day. Upon hearing that Dustin was in trouble, Chad hadn’t
wasted a moment. From the time he’d left his office he’d been on his cell phone, setting
all the wheels at his disposal in motion.
There was no way he was going to let Dustin spend one minute more than he
had to behind bars. First order of business had been to arrange bail and second was to
contact his investigator. He’d been more than gratified to hear everything the man had
come up with. As a private investigator, Noah Badden had connections that were
invaluable and Chad had never been so glad as he was now that he’d established a
good working relationship with the man who’d once been his lover.
Yawning again, Chad considered going back to his own room. For all of three
seconds. This is what he’d dreamed of the past few weeks, he and Dustin horizontal in
a bed. Of course it hadn’t worked out exactly like those dreams but for now, it was close
enough. No way he was giving up even this much.
Chad took the ice pack off Dustin’s head and dropped it over the side of the bed.
Pulling up his left leg, he carefully eased Dustin over on his side. Dustin muttered and
stirred but didn’t wake. While Dustin sleepily groped for his pillow, Chad stretched out
behind and spooned his body along Dustin’s, sliding one arm beneath his head and the
other over his waist. Dustin cuddled his cheek against Chad’s bicep and wiggled his
butt against Chad’s groin. Apparently satisfied and comfortable, he quieted.
Chad clamped his jaw against the groan that was trying to work its way up from
the depths of his chest. Dustin’s tight little ass squirming against him had sent the blood
rushing straight to his, up till now, quiescent cock. It was all he could do not to fasten
his teeth into the curve of Dustin’s shoulder, open him with a couple of spit slicked
fingers and fuck him until the sun came up.
Squeezing his eyes shut, he took what he hoped would be deep, calming breaths.
It didn’t help. Dustin’s scent was so strong, so persuasive Chad was near shuddering
with the tension that filled his body. Every time he thought, I should go, the wolf
commenced an inner howling that had his gut churning in reaction. Only the fact that
taking Dustin now would be cruel kept the desire from spiraling out of control. The
Kate Steele
Hoosier Werewolf 2: Who Let The Wolf Out
- 32 -
wolf understood pain and instinctively, above all else, was genetically programmed to
care for its mate. It was in fact, the wolf, who put the man in his place. His mate
required sleep to heal, all other needs must wait.
Chad concentrated on listening to his inner self. It still amazed him how at times
he and the wolf seemed to be one closely intermingled entity and at others, two
separate beings completely at odds with each other. No matter how the dynamics of the
pairing between man and beast balanced, they always seemed to end up doing the right
thing. These musing calmed Chad’s body and mind. He bowed to the wolf’s decree, left
his mate in peace and joined him in sleep.
* * *
The only thing Dustin had on his mind when he woke sprawled across Chad’s
body at four a.m. was sex. His headache was gone. The supple skin and firm muscles he
rested against, not to mention the very musky and male scent that wafted in with every
indrawn breath, had him horny as hell. Soft yet wiry hairs tickled his cheek and nose.
He rubbed against them like a cat, his hips joining the rhythm that ground his growing
cock against Chad’s thigh.
Small sounds of want slipped past his open mouth and were muffled when he
lifted his chin and planted his lips against Chad’s throat. His tongue laved small
patches of skin before lightly sucking and nibbling them. The hand that rested on
Chad’s abdomen slid down over rippled abs to burrow under the waistband of his
sleep pants. It found a thick bush of pubic hair which surrounded the near fully erect
cock that grew from its center. Dustin’s fingers encircled the massive column while
several firmly judicious squeezes brought it to its full rigid glory.
Chad’s groan and the convulsive uplift of his hips brought a sleepy, satisfied
smile to Dustin’s lips. A large hand snaked down his back and grabbed one cheek of his
ass, hauling him hard against Chad’s thigh. Dustin grunted and gave his perpendicular
prize another squeeze. He was rewarded with another groan and summarily rolled
beneath a hard, aroused and very demanding Chad.
Kate Steele
Hoosier Werewolf 2: Who Let The Wolf Out
- 33 -
His lips were taken in a kiss that could scorch molten lava. Chad’s tongue
invaded his mouth and took up residence, appearing intent on staying until every
millimeter was explored, caressed and owned. Dustin pulled his arm from between
them and wrapped them both around Chad’s shoulders, his head whirling with the
intensity of Chad’s kiss.
The room was cool, but wrapped in their nest of blankets, a fire was ignited.
Sweat formed everywhere, skin touched skin. Moist heat wafted over their bodies
bringing with it the pungent aroma of sexually aroused males. Dustin’s nerve endings
tingled and burned wherever Chad touched. He wanted, needed those hands and lips
on him, growing deeper and more addicted with each passing moment.
Without thought his thighs spread and knees bent, cradling Chad between them.
Sliding his hands down the sleek, sweat-moistened length of Chad’s back, they
burrowed under his sleep pants to curve over and clutch his ass. Holding on, Dustin
deftly oscillated his hips, driving their erections together. Separated by only a paper-
thin layer of fabric, the effect was electrifying.
Chad growled, released his mouth and instead buried it against Dustin’s throat,
biting and licking his skin. Dustin craned his neck, shuddering under the assault while
firmly planting his feet against the bed and bucking his hips against Chad. Never, never
had anything felt like this. Desperately he clenched his fingers into Chad’s backside,
grinding against him while needy, frantic sounds issued from between his parted lips.
Urgent words began pouring out of Dustin. “Please, oh please. Fuck me. Need
you, oh, God, need you so bad.”
Chad stilled against him for a split second, rose up on one elbow and wound the
fingers of his free hand through Dustin’s hair. He held Dustin’s head in place, forcing
him to meet his gaze. Dustin blinked at the sudden loss of action.
“What did you say?” Chad asked, his voice rough and urgent.
“Fuck me.”
“You’re offering yourself to me?”
“Yesss,” Dustin hissed, confused by the out of the blue question.
Kate Steele
Hoosier Werewolf 2: Who Let The Wolf Out
- 34 -
God! Wasn’t it obvious he was offering? He was hot, on fire, and needed him so
bad he was about to go up in smoke. The feral smile that curved Chad’s lips and the
lambent gleam that lit those slate-gray eyes gone nearly black with passion, should
have been a warning. Despite the heat between them, Dustin shivered.
“Don’t move. I’ll be right back.”
Chad was gone and back so fast his leaving barely registered. Dustin had just
enough time to see he carried lube and condoms, when he lost any control he might
have had of the situation. Chad took over and there was no stopping him. Dustin was
rolled to his belly and forced up on his knees. Before he could protest Chad’s forcible
handling, his ass cheeks were parted and a rough tongue slid down the length of that
smooth crevice. Dustin clenched his teeth against the wild cry that came bubbling up.
Chad was eating him, devouring him and Dustin pushed back into every spine-tingling
lick, every stinging bite. The tight ring of muscle Chad worked loosened, allowing him
inside, and he took full advantage. First with his tongue, then with lube-slick fingers.
Dustin pushed back into Chad’s probing fingers, lost to everything but the
burning need in his groin and the plunging promise of the slick digits that filled him.
He was barely aware when the plump, hot head of Chad’s cock replaced his fingers.
Until he started pushing inside. The burning stretch forced a warbling groan from
Dustin, his body tightening against the intruder.
Chad held still, one hand on Dustin’s hip the other moving to where they joined.
“Easy, baby, easy,” he crooned. His fingers massaged the distended tissue, soothing the
straining flesh.
“Oh, fuck,” Dustin moaned.
Shuddering with the sensations Chad’s caress brought, he pushed back, his body
opening and accepting the long glide of Chad’s cock until he felt pubic hair tickling his
spread entrance. Dustin dropped his forehead against the bed and concentrated on
merely breathing. He’d been fucked before, but this? God. Nothing compared to this.
Chad’s hand ran down the length of Dustin’s spine and he moaned, arching into the
touch. His body was quaking under the lash of his desire. It was as though everything
Kate Steele
Hoosier Werewolf 2: Who Let The Wolf Out
- 35 -
had suddenly wrapped itself into one tightly compressed ball that needed just the right
touch to make it explode.
Chad provided that touch. Slowly at first, then with increasing speed, he
pistoned his cock in and out. Dustin moved with him, pushing against every thrust
until their bodies were slamming together. Harsh pants and grunts accompanied every
stroke. The bed squeaked and shook while the air grew thick with the musk of sex. The
endless pumping of hips and the flexing strain of muscles went on and on. Dustin was
so close but needed just one little something more to come. He wanted to scream his
frustration but there was no air, no voice for more than the eager moans that broadcast
his vigorous and impatient participation.
Chad’s arms wrapped around him and pulled him up until he was seated on
Chad’s thighs, his back resting against Chad’s chest. “You’re mine now. You know that
don’t you?” Chad growled. His hot breath wafted against Dustin’s skin making him
shiver.
Though still buried deep, the hard thrust of Chad’s cock had halted giving
Dustin room to think. Did he want to be Chad’s? The answer came welling up without
the need to think or study or agonize over it. At some point from the time he’d first met
the man, the choice had been made. “Yes.”
The harsh sound of triumph that burst from Chad touched some primal nerve.
Dustin’s entire body reacted. A sheer wave of molten heat swept over him. His toes and
fingers curled, every muscle flexed, his stomach quivered and he slammed back into
Chad with a force that almost rocked them over backwards.
Chad answered Dustin’s sudden aggression with his own attack but there was
nothing hostile to it. Every move was harshly, brutally aimed at bringing his mate to
climax. Dustin was shoved back into position on his knees. Chad grabbed the nape of
his neck in one hand, holding Dustin down while the other reached around to grasp his
cock. Using strong, almost bruising strokes, he jacked his lover’s cock while slamming
into his body again and again, burying his swollen rod fast and hard.

Dustin was gasping under the assault. The earlier momentary cessation of
movement and Chad’s confusing question was forgotten. His climax came roaring to
the fore and Dustin screamed with the first, hot, rushing spray of spunk that wet the
sheet beneath him. There was nothing he could do when Chad hauled him upright,
buried his mouth against his shoulder and bit down with a strength that almost broke
the skin.
Dustin’s body bucked against the spasm of pain that rode side by side with the
bursting pleasure of his orgasm. He was distantly aware of Chad’s hips jerking against
him, each move signaling the rhythmic spurts of Chad’s release filling the condom deep
within his ass. Vaguely, the long, harsh, rumbling growl that sounded against his skin
and the sharp teeth that released their hold on the meat of his shoulder, registered. The
soothing sweep of Chad’s tongue over his bruised flesh made him shiver and with his
eyes closed, he let it all wash over him, fill him then slowly drain away.
Sated and utterly boneless, Dustin lay quiescent in Chad’s arms, allowing
himself to be lowered to the bed and rolled to his back. Long fingers softly caressed his
cheek. He managed to blink his eyes open and found Chad hovering over him.
“Are you all right, baby? I didn’t mean to be so rough. Christ! You were just so
fucking hot. I wanted you so bad… fuck. Say something, Dustin.”
Dustin stared up into Chad’s anxious slate gray eyes. A slow smile curved his
lips. “That was the most amazing thing I’ve ever felt. Are you always so, um,
aggressive?”
Eyes closing, Chad’s head dropped in relief. “Thank God. I was sure I’d just
scared you away for good.”
Dustin reached up and wound his arms around Chad’s neck, pulling him down
for a kiss. He let his lips and tongue tenderly persuade Chad of his sincerity before
letting him go. “I’m not scared. A little shocked maybe, but not scared. The proper
attorney at law in his fine business suits seems to have very little in common with the
guy in this bed.”
Kate Steele
Hoosier Werewolf 2: Who Let The Wolf Out

Chad shrugged sheepishly. “You need a lot of control to practice law. I guess I let
it all go in the bedroom. Is that all right?”
“Oh, yeah. I think I can live with that.”
“Good thing, ’cause you’re sleeping in my bed from now on.”
Dustin nodded. “Yeah. I am.”
Chapter Four
“Do you have a dog?”
Chad eyed Dustin with a little trepidation. “No, why do you ask?”
The two of them had gone outside. Their aimless wander around the backyard
had led them into the small forest that flanked the back of the house. Chad was
enjoying watching Dustin’s pleasure in seeing the squirrels, cardinals and other small
wildlife that inhabited the place. It was still cold, the smell of snow in the air although
the last fall had melted days ago.
“These tracks,” Dustin answered, squatting down to examine the large paw
prints in the dirt. “They’re definitely canine. And look, see this?” He showed Chad a
tuft of hair that clung to the bare branch of a nearby bush. “It looks like dog hair.”
“One of the neighbors has a German Shepard. Could be his.” He knew the hair
was really his -- or rather his wolf’s. There were times he craved being in wolf form, and
having this small stand of woods near was more than he could resist. Although this
place wasn’t the most ideal, it still soothed his inner self. The part that needed to feel
four paws against rich, raw earth, grass and leaves. The part that could sift through the
night breeze to find the aroma of squirrel, rabbit, pine and leaf mold and a dozen other
distinctive scents.
To a lesser degree it soothed his need for the pack. Lucas Devereau, their pack
alpha, arranged for regular meetings where the pack could gather and change. To be in
his other form amidst his brothers and sisters, to run and hunt was something Chad
hungered for, at times, more than anything in life. How he wanted to share that with
Dustin. Since discovering his mate, he was plagued by the question of how to tell him.
Kate Steele
Hoosier Werewolf 2: Who Let The Wolf Out
- 39 -
How do you tell the man you love that you’re a werewolf? Hell, how do you just tell the
man you love that you love him? He took solace in the fact that although Crewe had
confessed his love to Ethan, he still hadn’t revealed the fact that he was a werewolf.
Both of them were chaffing under this need to disclose all to their mates. The
thought that Dustin might be horrified at the knowledge and run from him terrified
Chad as nothing in his life ever had. He knew that one day he’d have to risk this newly
formed relationship and reveal the full truth about himself. The thought made a knot
form in the pit of his stomach. He reached out to sift his fingers through Dustin’s dark
hair. It was a gesture meant to reassure himself that Dustin was still here, still within
reach. Dustin looked up and Chad’s breath caught in his chest at the sight of those clear,
blue eyes and sweet smile.
Dustin rose to his feet. “Hey, you all right?”
“I’m fine,” Chad answered.
The wild need that crashed over him rocked him to the core. He pushed Dustin
against a nearby tree and kissed him. Dustin’s mouth opened to him and their tongues
met, unhesitant and welcoming. Dustin’s acceptance, so ready and sure, calmed Chad.
Breathing hard, he leaned back.
One hand cupped Dustin’s cheek, the other slid down to cup his mate’s growing
erection. “You are so beautiful. Will you do something for me?”
Shy pleasure radiated from the smile Dustin bestowed on him. “What?”
“Come in the house with me.”
“Is that all?”
“Oh, no, baby, I want more than that.” Chad stepped back and held out his hand,
smiling when Dustin twined their fingers together.
“So what is it you want?” Dustin asked as they strolled through the yard.
Reaching the side door, Chad opened it and ushered Dustin into what he referred to as
Chad’s family room, the more inviting of the two living rooms.
“I want you, actually both of us, to get undressed.” Chad unzipped Dustin’s
jacket and pushed it off his shoulders. He tossed it on a nearby chair. His own followed.
Kate Steele

“And then what?” Dustin asked. He was already complying with Chad’s request.
Both of them were peeling out of their clothes at a leisurely pace. Chad felt his
heart rate ratchet up a few notches along with the steady increase of his breathing.
“We’re going to sit on the sofa. You there.” Chad indicated first one end and then the
other. “And me here. I’ll be back in a second.” Chad went into the kitchen and started
down the hallway.
Dustin frowned. “Isn’t that a little far apart? How am I supposed to touch you?”
he called after Chad’s retreating back.
Chad returned with a tube of lube in his hand and settled himself sideways at his
end of the sofa, his back against the thick cushioned arm, his legs pointing toward
Dustin’s end. “You’re not. You’re going to touch yourself and I’m going to watch.”
In the act of swinging his legs up on the sofa, Dustin grabbed for the back when
he nearly overbalanced. “You want me to… um?”
“I believe the word you’re searching for is masturbate,” Chad supplied. He
couldn’t help the smile that tugged at his lips. Dustin’s cheeks were growing rosy.
“I know what it is,” Dustin returned sourly then bit his full bottom lip. Chad
wanted to crawl across the sofa and help him with it. “It’s just that I’ve never done it
with someone watching me. Are you sure this is what you want?”
“Very sure. Unless you don’t want to. I don’t want you to be uncomfortable.”
Dustin sent him a wry smile. “Does it look like the idea turns me off?”
Chad eyed Dustin’s full erection where it rested against his belly. “Not really.
You actually look quite eager.”
Opening the tube and taking a dollop of lube for himself, he tossed the container
to Dustin. The two of them exchanged excited grins. Dustin squeezed some into his
right hand and dropped the tube to the thickly carpeted floor. He took a deep breath
and closed his eyes. Chad watched quietly.
He could see the tension flow out of Dustin as he obviously strove to relax. One
hand came up to rest on his hard abs before sliding upward. Long fingers tweaked first
one nipple and then the other. Dustin’s lips parted -- he evidently enjoyed the sensation

-- while his other hand went to his cock. Chad watched Dustin’s fingers wrap around
his length and spread the lube until his cock was slick and shiny. His hand took a firmer
grip and he began a steady stroke. Chad left him to it until Dustin was emitting the
constant needy whimpers and moans that drove him insane with lust.
“Dustin,” he quietly commanded. “Look at me, baby.”
Another soft moan was his answer before Dustin’s eyelids parted, his gaze rising
to Chad’s. “Chad,” he gasped.
“Does it feel good?”
“Yes,” Dustin panted. “Is this what you wanted?”
“Oh, yeah, baby. You look so hot, so sexy.”
Chad’s words seemed to electrify Dustin. He raised one leg, bending it at the
knee and planting his foot on the cushions. Using his free hand he reached down and
fondled his balls. Adjusting his stance, he leaned back further, and spreading his legs
wider, gave Chad a better view. Chad stared in dazed wonder. Dustin had dropped
every inhibition and was putting on a show like it was something he did everyday.
His own cock was harder than hell and screaming to be touched. Chad took
himself in hand. Dustin’s eyes went wide, a desperate moan leaving his mouth. Before
Chad could say a word, Dustin turned himself over, draped himself across the sofa arm
and levered himself up on his knees. Between his spread thighs, Chad could see him
working his cock with long, firm pulls. His free hand reached around, slick fingers
going straight to his rosy entrance. Without hesitation Dustin pushed two inside, his
tortured groan ripping straight through Chad.
“Fuck me,” he begged. “Chad, please.”
There was no resisting. Chad scrambled to his feet, took two paces to Dustin’s
end of the sofa then carefully positioned himself on his knees between Dustin’s spread
legs. Taking Dustin’s hand he eased Dustin’s fingers out. “I’m here, baby, right here.”
Chad replaced Dustin’s fingers with his cock and pushed. He sank into the tight heat
with a guttural groan and the knowledge that it wasn’t going to last.
Kate Steele

He was too hot, too turned on and all too ready to shoot. Fortunately Dustin was
in the same condition. A half dozen hard and fast thrusts with Chad’s cock sliding over
his prostate triggered Dustin’s orgasm. The hard clamp of his body around Chad’s cock
was exquisite. Chad managed another half dozen strokes before shooting his load deep
into Dustin’s tight, accommodating ass. It was only as they both collapsed against the
cushions that Chad remembered the condom.
“Oh, shit,” he panted. “Dustin, I forgot the condom.”
Dustin tensed but his voice sounded calm. “I’m clean, Chad. I get tested every six
months and I’ve always used protection.”
“I wasn’t worried about that, baby. I just didn’t want you to think I’d hurt you.
I’m clean too.” Chad felt Dustin relax under him except for the slight wiggle of his butt.
“Then it’s okay. You’re the first one who’s ever come inside me.”
“And the last one,” Chad added.
“And the last one,” Dustin agreed.
Chad knew the feeling of satisfaction and pride he felt was an outdated he-man
reaction but he wasn’t going to fight the illogic of it. His mate was well and truly
marked. No one else could claim this privilege. No one else would plant their seed deep
inside his chosen. Chad rubbed his cheek against the back of Dustin’s neck, softly kissed
his skin and whispered, “Mine.”
“Yes.”
“You know this didn’t work out exactly the way I planned it. I wanted to see you
shoot all over that tight belly and those hard abs of yours.”
“Next time,” Dustin mumbled. “Maybe we should get up before I get glued to
the couch.”
“Good thing the sofa’s scotch guarded.”
Chad’s comment was rewarded by a sleepy chuckle.

“So tell me again. What are we doing here?”
Kate Steele
Hoosier Werewolf 2: Who Let The Wolf Out

“You know perfectly well why we’re here. Just as I said before. We’re looking for
Jerry. Settle down, Dustin,” Chad warned.
Dustin gave Chad a petulant glance before looking around the bar. As gay bars
went, Peter’s Bar & Grill was fairly sedate. Guys playing pool, some throwing darts,
others sitting at tables and in front of the bar talking to their friends or lovers. And as
usual, there was a certain amount of cruising going on. One good-looking blond had
drifted past their table three times in the past half hour.
Chad had asked earlier what places he and Jerry had frequented. This was one of
them and Chad planned to make the rounds. It was something they’d disagreed on.
Dustin maintained that if Jerry was laying low, coming to his favorite haunts wouldn’t
be a smart idea. Chad countered by explaining that people were creatures of habit and
that Jerry, as a relatively small fish, would have very little to worry about in the way of
the police actively hunting for him. Therefore he would feel safe in coming to his
favorite places.
Piqued at having his opinion disregarded, Dustin was feeling snippy. “I think
you just like being cruised by all these cute guys.”
“I can tell you’re the baby of the family. I’ll bet you were indulged and spoiled.
That won’t continue.” Chad turned his head and captured Dustin’s gaze.
Dustin’s eyes widened. The look Chad was giving him was stern and
uncompromising. He managed to suppress the shiver that threatened to wing its way
down his spine. Chad reached out and cupped Dustin’s chin, his thumb sliding over his
lover’s full bottom lip. Unable to stop himself, Dustin let his lips part, revealing his
anticipation. Chad leaned forward but instead of kissing Dustin, with a little pressure at
his chin, he turned his face until his mouth hovered near Dustin’s ear.
“Unless he wants a spanking, I know a certain young man who’d better
straighten up. You don’t want to be spanked, do you?”
Unable to stop the soft moan that slid from between his lips, Dustin scrunched
his eyes tightly closed. Pure unadulterated need made his stomach clench in reaction to
Chad’s words.
Kate Steele

“Well now,” Chad purred. “That’s interesting. Looks like my baby does like the
thought of being spanked. Is that right, baby? You want me to put you over my knee
and spank your sweet, little ass?”
Dustin’s indrawn breath was sharp and unsteady. “Stop it.”
“Why?”
“I don’t want… that.”
“Careful. Lying gets you extra swats.”
“I don’t have to worry about that ’cause I’m not getting punished at all. You can
stay here and look for Jerry. I’m leaving.”
Embarrassed at having his most guilty fantasy so easily revealed, Dustin rose
from his chair and strode out. Less than a block from the club he was halted by a hand
on his arm. Chad stepped in front of him, effectively blocking his path.
“Where do you think you’re going?”
Dustin shrugged but refused to meet Chad’s eyes.
“Dustin. Look at me.”
“Why?”
“Because there’s no need for you to be embarrassed. We all have fantasies. I
would never make fun of you or denigrate your needs.”
Hesitantly, Dustin raised his eyes to Chad’s. What he saw there made him catch
his breath. “I don’t like having you know.”
“Because it makes you feel vulnerable, exposed?”
“Yeah.”
“The good thing about that? Everything about you, every little bit, is safe with
me. Damn, babe, in case you didn’t notice, the thought of spanking you was turning me
on all to hell.”
Pushing his discomfiture aside there was still a question he wanted answered.
Dustin voiced it while carefully watching for Chad’s reaction. “So you don’t think it’s,
um, unnatural?”
Kate Steele
Hoosier Werewolf 2: Who Let The Wolf Out
- 45 -
Chad’s eyes remained steadily on Dustin’s not a flicker hinting at anything but
the truth. “No.” Chad slid his arm through Dustin’s. “It’s common for people to have
fantasies. Like dressing up and playing master and maid and fucking on the dining
room table or pretending to be housewife and plumber playing hide the pipe wrench in
the kitchen.”
By this time, Dustin was laughing. “Are you talking about role playing games?”
“Yeah, lots of people do that to spice up their sex lives. There’s nothing wrong
with it.”
“What about the spanking thing? Isn’t that a little more unusual?”
“Common as dirt,” Chad assured him with a grin and got them walking.
“How do you figure that?”
“You’ve obviously never spent anytime involved in the leather scene.”
“And you have?”
“As a matter of fact…”
“Do tell. In fact, why don’t we go home? Maybe you can do a little show and
tell.”
“Mmm, I like the way you think.”
* * *
“Dustin, where do you want this?”
Dustin looked up to find Crewe holding a large vase he’d bought at a craft fair. It
was sculpted to resemble an elegantly naked male torso and buttocks. The glaze was
done in subtle shades of cream, cocoa and rose. He, his brothers, Crewe and Chad were
packing Dustin’s things and moving him out of his former apartment.
“That’s beautiful. It’d look great on the mantle in the living room. Let’s take it
home with us. Yeah?”
Dustin smiled at Chad who’d peeked around the kitchen doorway. “Yeah.” He
turned back to Crew. “Put it with those boxes that are full of my clothes. The ones by
the front door. Thanks.”
Kate Steele
Hoosier Werewolf 2: Who Let The Wolf Out
- 46 -
Crewe left on his mission and before Dustin could return to what he was doing a
pair of strong arms wrapped around his waist. “Thanks.”
“For what?” Dustin asked snuggled back against Chad’s solid chest.
“For sharing your stuff with me.”
Dustin turned in his arms. “You’re sharing your home with me. It’s the least I
can do.”
“Our home. I thought we discussed this last night. Among other things.” Chad’s
hand wandered down to lightly cup one cheek of Dustin’s ass. He murmured in
Dustin’s ear. “Is your little butt still sore?”
Dustin squirmed a bit but not from pain. “It’s a little tender.”
“Poor baby. You think it’ll help if I lick it all over?”
“Chad,” Dustin wailed softly, “I’m not gonna be able to work with a hard-on.”
“All right, break it up, you two.” Nick and Ethan came shuffling out of the
bedroom with the mattress from Dustin’s bed. Nick fixed Dustin with a stern eye.
“Crewe needs help with the box spring.”
“Yes, sir.” Dustin backed away from Chad, turned and saluted, sending his
brother an impudent grin.
“You know he’s a pain in the ass brat, don’t you?” Nick asked Chad.
The wicked twinkle that filled Chad’s eyes fueled the flutter of panic in Dustin’s
stomach. He gave Chad a look that promised dire consequences if he revealed anything
that would embarrass him in front of his brothers.
Chad gave him a challenging stare while replying to Nick’s question. “I think I
can handle the brat. And his ass.”
Ethan and Nick both started laughing. Ethan’s grip loosened on the mattress.
Making a grab for it, instead of catching it, he lost his balance and fell against it causing
Nick to lose his grip as well. The mattress flopped to the floor with Ethan riding it
down. While Ethan bounced Nick, Chad and Dustin howled with laughter.
Nick went to his knees and crawled across the mattress to where Ethan lay. “You
all right, bro,” he gasped.
Kate Steele
Hoosier Werewolf 2: Who Let The Wolf Out

“Yeah, no thanks to you. Why’d you let go?”
“Hey, don’t blame me. Blame Chad, he made us laugh.”
“Maybe we should blame Dustin or more accurately, Dustin’s ass,” Ethan teased
with a mischievous grin.
“Hey, leave my ass out of this.”
“Leave your ass out of what, Dustin? And what are you doing lying there? Come
on,” Crewe ordered, pulling Ethan to his feet. “There’s work to be done, gorgeous. You
can lie around at home.” He pulled Ethan close. “With me on top of you.”
Ethan’s face flamed. He took a mock slug at Crewe. “Damn it. Don’t divert
attention from Dustin. I was enjoying not being the one everyone teased for a change.”
Crewe kissed one of Ethan’s hot cheeks and turned back to Dustin. “In that case,
like I asked before, leave your ass out of what? What did I miss?”
“Never mind. Come on, people, there’s work to be done. Chop, chop, let’s get to
it.”
Dustin hustled Ethan and Nick on their way and followed Crewe toward the
bedroom. He looked back and intercepted a roguish wink from Chad. His grin was
impish and immediate. He gave his backside a little wiggle.
“Don’t tempt me, Dustin,” Chad warned.
Eyes widening, Dustin hurried after Crewe but smiled at the sound of Chad’s
warm chuckle as it sounded out behind him. In the bedroom, he and Crewe grappled
with the box spring. Standing it upright, they maneuvered it out of the apartment and
down the stairs. Nick was standing in the bed of Crewe’s pick up, he and Ethan having
wrestled the mattress aboard. Crewe set his end of the box spring on the tailgate and
with Nick’s guidance, Dustin pushed it in place next to the mattress. While Crewe and
Ethan headed back upstairs, he stayed to help Nick wedge them in place between his
sofa and disassembled kitchen table.
Satisfied that everything was going to stay in place during the drive to the
storage facility, the two of them took a break. Sitting on the tailgate, Dustin let his feet
swing free. Nick sat cross-legged beside him.
Kate Steele
Hoosier Werewolf 2: Who Let The Wolf Out

“So, you and Chad, huh?”
Dustin glanced over at his elder brother. “Yeah. What do you think?”
“Well, baby bro, to tell you truth -- I like it.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. Chad seems like a nice guy. The strong and steady type. I think he’s just
what you need.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
Nick shot his brother a grin. “Remember what I said about you being a brat?”
“Yeah?”
“It’s true. You have a tendency to be a little willful, a little demanding. You pout
when you don’t get your way.”
“Do not,” Dustin denied.
“Remember when you were twelve? That time you pitched a fit ’cause Mom and
Dad wouldn’t go straight to the store and buy that new video game you wanted the day
it came out? God, even I remember that. It’s a wonder Dad didn’t blister your butt and
that wasn’t the only incident. Mom and I were doing some reminiscing on the phone
last week.” Nick snorted a laugh. “She said we spoiled you and you didn’t get spanked
enough when you were a kid.”
“Jeez. What is it with everybody and this urge to do things to my ass today?”
Dustin looked down at his hands where they rested on his lap. “Am I really that bad?”
he asked, almost afraid to hear Nick’s answer.
“Not anymore. You’re growing up, kid. I’m proud of you. We all are, Dust. But I
still think Chad’s the guy you need. He won’t take any of your guff. Hell, if you got too
far out of line it wouldn’t surprise me if he’d turn you over his knee.”
Dustin felt his cheeks heat, not only from the remark about Chad spanking him
but because his brother was proud of him. “Hmm, you might be right about Chad and,
um, thanks for the other thing you said.”
“Just tellin’ it like it is.” Nick sighed. “Well, I feel like my job’s done. Both my
brothers settled down and walking the straight and narrow. No pun intended.”
Kate Steele
Hoosier Werewolf 2: Who Let The Wolf Out
- 49 -
Dustin smiled. “What about you? Any prospects?”
“There’s always prospects. Every time I walk into a club the prospects come out
of the woodwork, but don’t be expecting me to settle down like you guys. That’s not my
thing.”
Eyeing his brother, Dustin gauged his words. Like he and Ethan, Nick had the
Parks brown hair and blue eyes but Nick’s hair was so dark as to be nearly black. His
blue eyes were a shade deeper, the pigment richer. He was also the tallest, his body
larger, more well defined and muscular. Side by side, Dustin knew he looked like a
smaller, paler version of Nick and he’d never had trouble meeting guys. He could well
imagine how easily such came to Nick.
“You wouldn’t want to be with just one guy?”
“I’m not saying it’s totally out of the question. I just don’t see it happening
anytime soon. I honestly don’t know if I could maintain a one-on-one relationship. If
I’m even capable of it.”
“You would be. All you have to do is meet the right guy.”
“Which isn’t as easy as it sounds.”
Dustin nodded thoughtfully then blurted out something that had been bothering
him for a long time. “Do you think Mom and Dad are disappointed in us? I mean, you
know, God, what are the odds that all three of their sons turned out to be gay?”
“Have they ever said anything to you about it?”
“No. They’ve been surprisingly supportive. Considering some of the horror
stories I’ve heard from other guys about their parents, I can’t believe how incredibly
lucky we are.”
“I know. I think maybe the only thing that disappoints them is the fact that they
aren’t going to have grandchildren.” Nick paused for a moment then scooted around
until he was facing Dustin. “I’ve considered the idea of finding someone to have a baby
with.”
“What?” Dustin yelped in surprise.
“Shhh! You’re gonna bring the guys running from upstairs.”
Kate Steele
Hoosier Werewolf 2: Who Let The Wolf Out
- 50 -
“You can’t be serious. You wanna what, have sex with some woman, get her
pregnant and then what? You’re not talking about getting married, are you?”
“Hell no. Jeez, Dustin. I just admitted to being reluctant to settle down with a
guy, my mate of choice. Do you really think I’d marry some poor woman? I’m talking
about artificial insemination with a surrogate. She’d have the baby and legally give up
her parental rights to it after the birth. I’d have a son or daughter and Mom and Dad
would have a grandchild.”
Wild as the idea was, Dustin could totally picture Nick as a father. “Holy shit. I
never thought of that, but you know, I think you’d make a great dad. Hell, you helped
Mom and Dad raise me and Ethan. You should do it. You know Ethan and I would help
with our niece or nephew. I can just see Mom and Dad now. Man, they’d be over the
moon. But just one thing.” Dustin studied his brother carefully. “Would you be doing
this for you or them? ’Cause if it’s just to give them a grandchild then don’t. It wouldn’t
be right.”
“I know that, bro. And no, it wouldn’t be just for them. I love kids. It’s weird. I
remember so much about you and Ethan growing up. I felt so responsible for you guys,
still do to a certain extent,” Nick mused. “I loved being there for you, helping you grow
and learn. I miss that. Sometimes though, I wonder if it’s a good idea, my having a
child. I’d probably turn in to some overprotective asshole and my kid would hate me.”
“Ethan and I never hated you. You’re too damn slick at getting people to do
what you want,” Dustin teased, wanting to ease his brother’s sudden melancholy.
“That’s the old Parks charm,” Nick said with a returning grin. “Something you
didn’t get.”
“Fuckhead.”
“Buttwad.” Nick reached out and slung an arm around Dustin’s shoulders. “Do
me a favor. Keep this conversation under your hat?”
“Will do.”
“Good, I’d hate to have to beat your ass.”
“Damn, there’s my ass again with a starring role in the conversation.”

Crewe took that moment to appear around the side of the truck with a box in his
arms. “What the hell is it with you and your ass today?”
“Aw, fuck. I give up.” Dustin hopped down from the tailgate and walked away
shaking his head in disgust to the sound of Nick laughing his butt off.
Chapter Five
“Mmm, Chad, please.”
Chad lifted his head, pausing in the pleasurable act of swirling another sensual
lick over the slightly pink mound of his mate’s ass. “Please what, baby?”
“Fuck me.”
“I intend to. What’s your hurry?”
Dustin’s ass wiggled. “I’m horny. What’d you expect would happen when you
insisted on using this damn butt plug?”
Chad’s soft laugh wafted warm air over those smooth, damp cheeks. He trailed
his tongue up the sleek indentation between them and slowly up the flexing length of
Dustin’s spine. Halting at the nape of his neck, Chad kissed, nibbled and licked his way
from one side to the other, enjoying the way Dustin shivered at his touch. Stopping to
pay special attention to the ear that was exposed by the turn of Dustin’s head, he smiled
at the low moans that issued from his lover’s parted lips. For some reason, he was in no
hurry tonight. To savor every nuance of this mating was his goal.
Carefully he lowered his body and settled against Dustin. “Am I too heavy?”
“No, feels good.”
Closing his eyes, Chad lay against Dustin. With deliberate intent, he moved. His
unhurried, rhythmic undulations rubbed skin on skin and massaged muscle against
muscle. The gentle thrust and shimmy of his pelvis succeeded in opening the way for
his hard cock to rest flush in the cleft of Dustin’s ass. Dustin clenched his buttocks
squeezing the thick column between lush, warm flesh.
“Oh, yeah, baby. Hold it tight,” Chad breathed against Dustin’s ear.

“God, you’re a tease. So close to where I need you. So close. I want you in me, not
this cursed piece of silicone.” Dustin groaned and bucked his hips, forcing them more
tightly together.
Chad answered his need by increasing the rhythm, thrusting within that hot
crevice, dragging his cock over the smooth base of the plug that stretched Dustin’s
spread, needy entrance. He continued until they were both panting and Dustin was
reduced to a whimpering bundle of pent up desire, pleading desperately for release.
Lifting himself up, Chad rolled Dustin to his back.
Face flushed and eyes closed, Dustin’s parted lips were a temptation he couldn’t
resist. Chad licked the tender, rosy flesh, rimming his mate’s mouth before sliding his
tongue inside. He groaned at the sweet flavor that met his probing explorations. Every
part of Dustin, his taste, his scent, the feel of his skin, the sound of his voice, wove
invisible threads through Chad. Every moment spent with him served to strengthen the
unbreakable bond that Chad felt forming between them.
He couldn’t get enough of this man and luckily it wasn’t a problem. Dustin gave
of himself so freely, so generously and sensuously, he sated Chad’s hunger each time it
rose. Taking his hands, Chad pushed Dustin’s arms over his head. He trailed his hands
down firm forearms and sculpted biceps. Reluctantly he left the luscious mouth he was
devouring in favor of further exploration. Lips lingering over the flesh of Dustin’s
throat, he could appreciate a vampire’s fascination with such a tender part of the body.
Just beneath the surface, he could smell a bare hint of the coppery scent of
Dustin’s blood. Masked by flesh infused with his mate’s scent, it made his mouth water
and his dick pulse. Someday, if Dustin allowed it, he’d taste that blood and forever bind
his chosen one to him and to the pack. Groaning at the thought, Chad forced himself
away from that vulnerable spot in favor of a place that would ease his sudden blood
hunger. Burying his nose in the pit of Dustin’s arm, he breathed in the rich, sweat-laden
musk.
A hot rush of lust shot straight to his cock. The scent was undiluted and
unmistakably male. Blood hunger forgotten, the simple need to fuck returned full force.

His gaze lit on his next target. Two sensitive nipples called, light brown and already
taut from the slide of his chest against Dustin’s. Chad kissed his way to them and licked
at the tiny nubs before gently worrying them with his teeth. Dustin’s pants and eager
moans accompanied every lick and bite. Chad left them rosy and hot before moving on.
Craving more of his mate’s myriad tastes and scents, he eased down Dustin’s
taut abdomen, lips and tongue savoring the light, salty tang of skin growing moist
under the lash of sexual arousal. Ignoring Dustin’s fully erect cock, Chad kept going
until his nose was buried in the dark wiry puff of Dustin’s pubic hair. The aroma here
was more effective than any drug. Chad’s head spun. It was Dustin’s essence, pure and
hot, rich addictive musk overlaid by the tart flare of testosterone. It tapped into every
primitive instinct Chad possessed. All the longings and wants that are masked by the
veneer of civilization. It screamed of the need for sex, to fuck, give, take and use until
every primal, animalistic desire was met.
Chad lifted his head, fighting down the howl that was building in his throat.
Growling fiercely, he plunged his mouth down the length of Dustin’s cock and
swallowed hard. Dustin surged under him, crying out at Chad’s rush of aggression.
Easing back, Chad forced himself to slow, to once again find the place that spoke of an
unhurried savoring of his mate.
Gentling his touch, but keeping it firm and steady, he tightened his lips and
established a taunting rhythm. His tongue kept pace, following the bulge of enriched
blood-filled veins and firm, hot flesh under satiny skin. Drops of salty/sweet pre-come
leaked from the tiny slit that topped the plump head of Dustin’s cock. Chad resisted
swallowing, wanting the flavor to rest against his tongue and fill his mouth.
Dustin’s hands were fisted in the sheet, his hips thrusting up to meet every
downward sweep of Chad’s mouth and tongue. His desperate babbling pleas hit Chad
like a cattle prod. “Oh yeah. Suck me, suck me hard. Make me come. Please, lover,
please.”
Chad increased the pressure and sucked, his cheeks hollowing with the effort.
Insinuating his hands beneath Dustin’s ass he cupped the flexing globes, bringing him

closer while taking Dustin’s length down his throat. He swallowed, the movement
compressing and massaging his lover’s cock. Dustin jerked, cried out something
incomprehensible and came. Easing back, Chad swallowed the thick jets of semen that
filled his mouth. The taste was mildly bitter, a combination of salt and sweet that
inundated his palate and wrapped him in a sexual haze.
As much as he relished Dustin’s release, his own demanded attention. He slid his
mouth free of Dustin’s cock and sat up. Grasping the base of the plug that filled
Dustin’s ass, Chad pulled it free. Dustin’s entrance, slick and open, beckoned and Chad
wasted no time filling it with one long, smooth inward glide. His groan and Dustin’s
twined together, a harmonic expression of lust.
Breathing deeply to maintain control, Chad held his hips still and steady. He ran
his hands up and down the length of Dustin’s legs where they rested over his
shoulders. Releasing one, he lowered it to waist level, his free hand going to Dustin’s
spent cock and balls. Tenderly he caressed them with his fingertips, teasing and petting
until Dustin was shivering.
“I want you to come with me,” Chad demanded softly.
“I can’t. Not again,” Dustin denied with a groan. His stomach muscles quivered
when Chad’s fingers encircled his cock.
With infinitesimal care, Chad squeezed and stroked his lover’s dick. A frisson of
triumph swept over him when he felt the softened flesh firm under his manipulating
fingers. “Yes you can. You will.” He leaned forward and tenderly kissed Dustin’s open
mouth. “Come with me, baby. You want to make your lover happy, don’t you?”
“Oh fuck. Chad,” Dustin groaned his hips starting to pump, pushing himself into
the firm grip of Chad’s hand.
Dustin’s surrender made Chad feel strong, invincible. He moved, fucking his
mate, doling out and accepting the pleasure that grew sharper, higher and hotter with
every thrust. Before he knew it, Chad was slamming his body against Dustin’s,
sprinting toward an orgasm that suddenly surrendered all resistance and slammed
them both with savage glee. His guttural, growling groan was a counterpoint to

Dustin’s warbling wail. Dustin’s tight passage gripped him hard, warm seed spilling
over his fingers, the pulsing spurts matching the draining rhythm of his own release.
His original goal, to savor his mate, had gone beyond his simple expectations. He
reveled in, relished and glutted himself not only on the sheer physical delight but the
emotional feast this closeness to Dustin laid out before him. Coming down from the
high, his body relaxing, Chad disengaged from Dustin’s body. Draping himself over his
lover, he rested on his elbows and looked down into sated blue eyes. Words weighed
on the tip of his tongue, words he’d never said to anyone except family and certainly
with nowhere near the same meaning.
Dustin’s half-lidded eyes widened and he reached up to cradle Chad’s cheeks in
his hands. “I love you too,” he whispered. “But next time you wear the butt plug.”
Chad laughed. Eyes suspiciously bright he rolled and brought Dustin to rest
against him. “It’s a deal.” He squeezed Dustin tight and whispered against the top of
his head. “I love you.”
* * *
“Grab your coat. We’re going out.”
Dustin looked up from the sofa where he was stretched out watching television.
Chad was standing over him with a smile on his face. “Where are we going?”
“Some club called Transitions.”
“You know that’s a drag club, don’t you?” Dustin sat up, a confused frown on
his face.
“Remember what I said about Jerry feeling free to visit his usual haunts?”
“Yeah.”
“Turns out I was wrong. But guess what? He’s visiting new places.” Chad
grabbed Dustin’s chin and turned his face up kissing him soundly before continuing.
“That phone call I just got? Noah Badden. He’s been going around to all the clubs in the
area showing Jerry’s picture. Someone at Transitions recognized him. Does the name,
Wanda, ring a bell?”
“Holy shit, you’re kidding. Wanda?”
Kate Steele
Hoosier Werewolf 2: Who Let The Wolf Out
- 57 -
“Um hmm. Whatever you two did in that jail cell made quite an impression on
our girl, Wanda. She recognized Jerry’s picture and told Noah all about how he looked
like the cute, manly little bad boy she met in jail. Some guy by the name of Dustin
Parks.”
“Oh, fuck.” Dustin felt his cheeks heat.
“Is there something I should know?”
“No.”
“Come on, sweetie, you can tell me,” Chad teased.
“Nothing happened,” Dustin hedged then mumbled, “Except for Wanda and
some other guy trying to put the moves on me.” Dustin got up and headed for the coat
closet. He yelped when Chad swatted his ass. “What was that for?” He frowned back at
Chad, rubbing his abused cheek while he walked away.
Chad caught up to him, slung an arm around his shoulders and kissed his cheek.
“Just ’cause you have the cutest little tush I’ve ever seen.”
Dustin tried to still the twitch of his lips. “You know when we get back you’ll
have to kiss it and make it better.” Reaching the coat closet in the living room by the
front door, he grabbed Chad’s then his own coat.
“Gives the words ‘kiss my ass’ a whole new meaning,” Chad quipped.
Donning his coat, Dustin laughed and followed Chad out to the garage.
Half an hour later Chad parked the jeep in a pay lot four blocks from the club.
Before he got out, Dustin grabbed his arm. “Tell me again why I’m here. Can’t the
police just arrest him?”
“You’re the only one who’s had contact with him. I want you to positively
identify him. I don’t want any slip ups. Finding this guy is the key to getting you off the
hook. I want that, Dustin.” Chad slid his hand behind Dustin’s head and brought their
foreheads together. “I don’t want you going to trial for something you didn’t do.”
“I’m not exactly thrilled about the idea either, you know.”
Kate Steele

“I know, baby. I know you’ve been worried. And I know you’re not exactly
thrilled with the idea of seeing this bastard again but this could be it. If that’s really
Jerry in there, tonight could bring an end to those worries.”
Dustin nodded and kissed his lover. “Let’s do this.”
Exiting the jeep, they walked the short distance to the club. Just inside the door,
Noah Badden waited. Chad greeted him and introduced Dustin to the man. Noah was
an inch or two taller than Dustin’s own six foot height. Rimless glasses framed deep
green eyes with auburn lashes that matched the dark auburn of his hair. The two of
them shook hands. Noah’s grip was firm and sure. Dustin liked him immediately
despite the slight qualm he felt knowing that he and Chad had once been lovers,
something Chad had explained to him a few days earlier.
“I’ve been discreetly keeping an eye on him. He’s talked to a few people, had a
few drinks. There’ve been a couple of discreet exchanges. He’s dealing.”
“Where is he now?” Chad asked.
Noah motioned with his head. “At the bar.”
Dustin looked in that direction, his gaze sifting through the crowd and traveling
over those seated at the bar. He didn’t see Jerry. “Are you sure? I don’t see him.”
“Try taking a closer look at the lady with the blonde hair in the blue sequined
number. According to Wanda, that’s our boy. It’s a great disguise and he’s carrying his
stash in his cleavage.”
Dustin felt his mouth drop open.
Chad slipped his arm around Dustin’s waist. “You didn’t know he was into the
drag scene?”
“I didn’t have a clue. He never mentioned a thing about it.”
“Well, let’s go see what kind of reaction we get when you go talk to him.”
Chad steered Dustin in the direction of the bar. Dustin swallowed his
trepidation, smiled and nodded at the suggestion Chad whispered in his ear. He
glanced back to see Noah following at a discreet distance. Taking the barstool next to
Jerry, he sat.

Swiveling his seat he turned to face their prey. “Hello, beautiful. Mind if I buy
you a drink.” The blonde snapped her head in Dustin’s direction and as soon as their
eyes met, Dustin knew. “Hello, Jerry. I’ve been looking for you. You left something at
my place.”
“Dustin! What a surprise. How are you, baby? I’ve been meaning to call but um,
as you can see, I’ve been a little busy.”
“Don’t call me that. I’m not your baby. I’m not your anything. You left drugs in
my apartment and got me arrested.”
Jerry’s eyes narrowed, his pleasant expression turning stone cold and ugly.
“Prove it.”
“I don’t have to prove it. You’re going to the police and confess.”
“Really,” Jerry laughed. “And who’s going make me do that. You? You are so
pathetic. Sweet, little Dustin. You’re like a little puppy dog, so cute, everybody loves
you. And smart? You with your post graduate studies and degrees in this and that. I
can only imagine the shock and dismay your fall from grace must have caused. The
angel lost his wings. I can’t believe how easy it was to fool you. A few kind words and a
hard cock. If people only knew what a pitiful simpleton you really are. Now if you’ll
excuse me, I have places to go.”
Dustin sat frozen under the lash of Jerry’s putrid tirade. How could he have been
so blind to the bitter resentment Jerry harbored against him? Could it be true? A few
kind words and a hard cock? Was that all it took to win his affection? And if it was,
what did that say about this new relationship with Chad? Jerry stood and started to
walk away. Noah stepped in front of him and Chad helped block his escape.
“You’re not going anywhere, Knowles. Except to jail,” Chad growled.
“Who the hell are you?”
“I’m Dustin’s lawyer and this is my investigator.”
“Well, Mr. Big Shot Lawyer, I don’t see any cops here and neither you nor your
investigator has the right to hold me here against my will.”
Kate Steele
Hoosier Werewolf 2: Who Let The Wolf Out

“As to that, you’re perfectly right. But as for no cops? Sorry. See those two guys
coming in the front door? I’ll give you a hint. Those aren’t costumes.”
Jerry’s bravado disappeared. His shoulders slumped. “Son of a bitch.”
“Aptly put.”
Dustin remained seated while Chad and Noah dragged Jerry across the club and
talked to the police officers Noah had called to come collect him. Staring at the floor, he
didn’t see the person who came and seated themselves next to him. “Hello, sugar, how
are you?”
Dustin looked over into heavily lashed and familiar blue eyes. Wanda was
dressed to the nines in an emerald green satin dress. He mustered a smile. “Wanda. Hi.
I’m doing better now, thanks to you.”
“Are you sure? You look like someone just stole your lollipop.”
“Yeah. I was just thinking about how we don’t really know anyone. At least the
way we think we do.”
“Well, there’s a certain amount of truth to that, sugar, but then some people are
better judges of character than others. I happen to be a very cynical and observant type
of person. Take for instance the first time I saw you. You told me you were in jail for
dealing drugs. My first thought after hearing that? Bullshit.” Wanda smiled, her deep
voice taking on a teasing note. “I took one look into those big, innocent, baby blues and
knew for a fact that you could no more deal drugs than I could play it straight.” She
reached out and gently tweaked Dustin’s chin. “You’re one of those sweet people who
take others at face value. You don’t expect lies or treachery. It’s a very nice way to be,
but something that will get you hurt by, say, that bastard they’re hauling away?”
Dustin nodded partly amazed and not a little bit touched by Wanda’s
assessment.
“I didn’t like him from the start. When I first saw him, he reminded me of you,
until I looked into his eyes. Windows to the soul, my dear, and his is a little tarnished.
But you know, a good thing came out of this. That guy who’s coming this way? He’s
looking at you with so much love in his eyes it’s a wonder flowers don’t sprout from

the floor, and flocks of sweetly twittering little blue birds aren’t circling around the two
of you.” Wanda gestured a bit extravagantly then smiled. “Now he’s one of the good
guys. Although, hmm, I sense a mystery there. I have a feeling that’s something you’ll
figure out and when you do, you’ll find it won’t make a bit of difference. You are one
lucky boy, Dustin Parks. Don’t let someone who meant you nothing but harm win. Take
that beautiful man home and let him love you.”
Tearing his gaze from Chad who was walking across the crowded room toward
him, Dustin looked at Wanda, reached out and gave him a hug and a peck on the cheek
before pulling away. “You are a miracle in high heels. Thank you.”
“My pleasure, sugar.”
Chad arrived and added his thanks to Dustin’s. “You ready to go home?” He
held his hand out to Dustin.
Smiling into those honest slate-gray eyes, Dustin let his doubts slip away. He
took Chad’s hand and walked out with his lover.
Epilogue
“And then he confessed.”
Dustin watched, his eyes filled with pride as his lover explained how Jerry
Knowles’ confession got him off the hook. Five of them sat at a table near the dance
floor at Midnight Howl, celebrating the dropped charges against Dustin. Nick, Ethan
and Crewe were giving Chad their undivided attention.
“I still don’t like the fact that Jerry got off so lightly. He would have happily sent
Dustin to prison,” Nick growled.
Chad sighed. “I’m not so pleased about that myself, but it was part of the deal
they made. The evidence against Jerry wasn’t all that compelling. According to the
nuances of their chemical components, the pills he had on him, and the stash they
found in his hotel room were all from the same batch as those that were found in
Dustin’s apartment. But that didn’t mean Dustin couldn’t have accepted them
voluntarily.”
“Certainly with the previous evidence they’d gathered and the additional
evidence after catching him, Jerry was facing the same charges as Dustin. But the police
and the DA were interested most in Jerry’s behavior. How had he known he was about
to be arrested and to make himself scarce? Who passed the information along? They
promised to give him the longest, hardest sentence they could possibly manage if he
didn’t tell all. The fact that he’d been in trouble before was a good motivator. Under so
much pressure, Jerry made a deal and spilled his guts. The police found the leak in their
department and a lot of arrests were made. The DA was very happy.”
“Well it’s over. That’s all I care about,” Dustin chimed in and leaned over to kiss
Chad. “Thanks to my brilliant attorney.”
“Flatterer.”
Kate Steele
Hoosier Werewolf 2: Who Let The Wolf Out
- 63 -
“Just telling the truth.”
“You guys are so cute together,” Ethan teased.
“Just as sweet as honey,” Crewe chimed in with a grin.
“I think I’m going to be sick,” Nick added while rising from his seat. “I’m going
to get myself another drink. I need a buffer between me and all this lovey-dovey stuff.”
He turned in the direction of the bar and came face to face with a man. Dustin
looked up, his mouth opening in awe. He’d always known that Nick was an impressive
specimen, six feet five inches of prime, muscular alpha male. Never had he seen anyone
measure up to him. Until now. The man Nick faced matched him, in height, weight and
pure presence. Amber eyes flashed and his blond hair with its multi-toned strands
gleamed under the club’s lights. There was an aura of intensity about him that drew the
eye.
The two of them standing so close together, those invisible forces of personality
touching, electrified the atmosphere. Any second now, Dustin expected to see sparks
fly. It was a meeting of leviathans, a clash of titans, the kind of thing that made time
stop and the world tremble with anticipation. Dustin watched as Crewe stood and
made the introductions. Nick’s hand and the hand of the man named Lucas Devereau
met.
Dustin blinked and shook his head. The world righted itself. They were two men
shaking hands and the world hadn’t exploded at their first touch.
“Are you all right, baby? You look a little flushed,” Chad observed, nuzzling
Dustin’s ear.
“Just my imagination working overtime.”
“Chad, could I impose upon you for an introduction to this young man?”
Dustin looked up. Lucas was smiling down at him. Chad made the introduction
and Dustin too shook hands with Lucas. The same sensation he got from Chad and
Crewe flowed over Dustin. There was something about this man, something wild and
untamed that drew Dustin and at the same time made him want to shiver.
Kate Steele
Hoosier Werewolf 2: Who Let The Wolf Out
- 64 -
Surprisingly, Lucas joined them and fitted easily in with their group. Dustin let
his gaze wander from Ethan to Crewe then on to Nick and Lucas. Even though one
couple had been together for months and the other had just met, Dustin got the same
impression. They belonged with each other. Seeing them together gave him a feeling of
everything being just the way it was supposed to be.
Just as he felt the invisible connection that bound him to Ethan and Nick, that
link he felt between Crewe and Chad, something he’d mused on days ago, reached out
to encompass Lucas. What was it Wanda had said? There was a mystery here? Dustin
decided to wait and see how the situation played out between Nick and Lucas. If things
went the way he thought they might, he was going to be comparing notes with his
brothers.
Lucas chose that moment to turn his gaze in Dustin’s direction. Lucas’ eyes were
glowing. Blinking several times, Dustin looked again and the lambent shine was gone.
Must have been a reflection from the lights, he silently mused, shifting uneasily in his chair.
Seeking reassurance, he reached for the hand Chad had placed on his thigh and
gave it a squeeze. Looking into his lover’s slate gray eyes and seeing the love that filled
them, Dustin knew that whatever it was, once the mystery was solved, just like Wanda
said, it wouldn’t make a bit of difference.
“Everything okay, baby?” Chad asked giving him the smile that Dustin had
come to cherish.
Dustin nodded. “Perfect.”
