Construction and Use
Hydrostatic level probes are designed for the measurement of fluid levels
in open tanks, canals, constrictions in open channels, streams etc.
The probe is used to determine depths based on the simple relationship
between the height of a column of liquid and the resulting hydrostatic
pressure. The pressure measurement is taken at the level of the dia-
phragm seal of a compensated active sensing module.
An electronic amplifier producing a standard signal is situated above the
level of the medium in a case with ingress protection rating IP 54 or
IP 67, depending on the electrical connection used. The leads connecting
the amplifier to the sensor are contained in a

17.2 × 1.6 pipe which is a
constructional component of the probe.
Installation and Operation
The probe may be installed as desired, providing the following conditions
are met:

The probe should be fastened by the

17.2 pipe;
♦
The maximum expected level of the medium should not cause the
electronic system to become flooded;
♦
If the probe is to be mounted on the lid of the tank using a collar grip,
this should be ordered together with the probe, as such grips are fitted
during manufacture of the probe.
The probe does not require maintenance. Contamination of the dia-
phragm should be removed only by dissolving. Mechanical cleaning of
the diaphragm is not permitted.
For periodic calibration the user can alter the zero point and the range
using the potentiometers, without interaction of settings.
