Kalorymetria to dziedzina fizyki obejmująca pomiary ciepła po-
wstającego w wyniku reakcji chemicznych oraz różnorodnych pro-
cesów fizycznych. Wyniki badań kalorymetrycznych dostarczają 
cennych informacji o termodynamice przebiegu procesu. Pomiary 
ciepła przemiany umożliwiają ustalenie wartości zmian innych 
wielkości termodynamicznych takich jak: entalpia oraz entropia. 
Za ojca kalorymetrii uważa się Josepha Blacka, szkockiego fizyka, 
który pierwszy wyraźnie zdefiniował pojęcia temperatury i ciepła. 
Pierwszymi konstruktorami kalorymetrów byli prawdopodobnie 
Antoine Lavoisier oraz Pierre Simon de Laplace.

Kalorymetr jest przyrządem służącym do pomiarów ilości 

ciepła. Składa się z dwóch naczyń umieszczonych jedno w dru-
gim i oddzielonych warstwą nieprzewodzącą ciepła. Wyposa-
żony jest w precyzyjny termometr oraz mieszadło. Termometr 
powinien umożliwiać pomiar temperatury z dokładnością co 
najmniej 0,1°C.

Calorimetry is a field of physics including measurement of heat 

exuded in chemical reactions and various physical changes. Results 
of calorimetric examinations give essential information about the 
thermodynamics of a process. Measurement of heat changes ena-
ble to ascertain the value of other thermodynamic quantities, like 
enthalpy or entropy. The founder of calorimetry is Joseph Black 
– Scottish physician – he was the first person who clearly described 
the idea of temperature and heat, recognising the distinction betwe-
en those two notions. First calorimeter’s designers were probably 
Antoine Lavoisier and Pierre Simon de Laplace.

Calorimeter is a device used in measuring the quantity of heat. 

It consists of two vessels situated one into another, divided with 
a heat insulator layer. Calorimeter is equipped with a precise 
thermometer and an agitator. The thermometer should make it 
possible to carry out precise temperature measurement with the 
precision of at least 0,1 degrees Celsius.
