This form may be laminated. An entry will be made in the Deck Log book referring to the completion of all
checks as per this list. Any non-conformance must be raised to the attention of the Master.

Inform master and duty engineer of handover. Ensure engine control room is manned and engines on standby
mode.
2.
Post additional lookouts.
3.
Consider adopting dual watch system.
4.
Consider changing over to manual steering and having both steering motors switched on.
5.
Consider reducing speed having due regard to prevailing circumstances.
6.
Check / plot positions at frequent intervals.
7.
Obtain latest weather / ice reports, traffic advisory, and navigational warnings.
Make local weather observations and transmit weather reports/danger messages in accordance with SOLAS
CH. V : REG. 2(a);
8.
Consult Weather Routing if in heavy weather or ice conditions, and consider alternatives if available.
9.
If in coastal waters, consider having anchors cleared of lashings for immediate use.
10.
If in heavy weather, anchors should be well lashed. To ensure safe access on weather deck for crew, consider
suitable course alternatives if required.
11.
Confirm all cranes, derricks, gangways, equipment, ropes, and stores etc. are well secured.
12.
Confirm all watertight doors and deadlights in accommodation and machinery areas are well secured. Ensure all
weather deck openings are closed.
13.
Ensure that all crew are advised of the circumstances and are aware of the resulting restrictions (denied access
to weather deck etc.) if any.
14.
Test operation of the whistle (traffic and visibility permitting).
15.
Ensure that daylight signaling lamp (Aldis) and searchlights are ready for use.

is adhered to.

If applicable, confirm
Heavy Weather Procedure (SP0280)
are complied with.

Navigation in Restricted Visibility Procedure (SP0551)
