been set out by the Police Reform
Act 2002, and it came to be real on

of April 2004.
Authority in Prison Service
HM Chief Inspector of Prisons have been
choose by the British Justice Secretary,
from outsides of the Prison Service for
about five years.
This post was created by the Royal Sign
Manual on 1 January 1981, and have
been established by the Criminal Justice
Act 1982 on the recommendation of the
Committee of Inquiry into the UK Prison
Service under Mr Justice May.
Authority in the HM Chief
Inspector of Fire Services
They are an autonomous agency of the
Scottish Government based in the
St.Adrew’s House, Edinburgh.
They function is to: "improve the
efficiency, effectiveness and standards
of the fire and rescue services in
Scotland“.
