When do we use Present Simple?
when we express a habit
when we express a fact which is always true
when we express a fact which is true for a long time
We use the Present Simple with adverbs of frequency such as: always, usually, often, sometimes, occasionally, rarely, seldom, never, frequently.
PRESENT CONTINUOUS
(I) am verb+ ing
(she, he, it) is verb+ ing
(you, they) are verb+ ing

I am ('m) playing tennis. I am not ('m not) playing tennis.
He/She/It is ('s) playing tennis. He/She/It is not (isn't) playing tennis.

Questions Short answers

When do we use Present Continuous?
when we express an activity happening now
when we express an activity happening around now, but perhaps not at the moment of speaking
when we express a planned future arrangement
REMEMBER! Some verbs which express a state, not an activity (e.g. think, like, love, agree, understand), are usually used in Present Simple.
