There are plans to tear down an old cinema in the town where you live. Write a letter to the authorities stating why you think this should not be done, and suggesting alternative ways in which the building might be used.

I am writing to strongly protest against the recent plan for tearing the old cinema down. For many years this building was the only place where people could socialize and forget about the boredom of their everyday life. It is almost a landmark of our town and should be rather renewed that destroyed.
Although some people claim that this building is not very alluring from outside, it has its unique vibe and interior that is one of a kind. It has been constructed almost a decade ago by a prominent architect of those times, Mr. Maciej Nowicki. Therefore it soon may be listed as a class 0 monument, which would be an immense tourist attraction. Consequently your company, whose main aim is to restore buildings and create new ones, could also benefit from it.
Furthermore, every time people come and visit old cinema they take a trip down memory lane. This building may be very old, but the from the perspective of each and every citizen it is a living memorial. It is not only a source of entertainment, but what is even more important, a source of new relationships among people. Many couples met there and many people encountered there their soul mates.
There is a number of alternative ways in which the building could be used. Recently there has been established a theatric group in our town. Unfortunately, their members have no place to perform their plays and to rehearse. After a small renovation the cinema building would fit their needs. I am also sure that we would receive a donation from the EU for cultural undertaking like that. Your company could be commissioned to renovate our old cinema, which would be beneficial for both sides.
I hope that you will give this matter careful consideration. Please bear in mind how important this place was for many years for all the citizens and how profitable it may be to change your decision about tearing this building down.
