The Wedding By Robert, US I left New York around 3 p.m. last Wednesday, and arrived in Dornie at 2 p.m. on Friday, which is a remote town in Scotland. Everyone was tired, although we'd had a stopover in London. We had made this long journey for my cousin Meredith's wedding. We all went to a wedding rehearsal. We approached the castle, which Meredith had chosen for the wedding ceremony. Everybody was speechless - the castle was beautiful and it had gorgeous views. We entered the castle and toured its interior. The room for the wedding ceremony seemed small because of a large table that nobody had removed yet. My two-year-old cousin Sarah, the flower girl, needed to walk around the room throwing petals. Next morning I stumbled downstairs for a traditional Scottish breakfast of eggs and bacon. We weren't in a hurry so we sat together over breakfast chatting to family and friends. At two o'clock we started getting ready for the wedding. We wore dark suits and ties. Every Scotsman in the wedding wore a traditional Scottish kilt, most of them blue and dark green with a little white. We all thought they looked fantastic. We went to the castle at six o'clock; I took a seat near the front and waited. Where was the bride? The wedding was due to start, and the bride wasn't there! Finally, at six-thirty the bride appeared. She was wearing an amazing white dress. The ceremony was short but very emotional and beautiful. We left the castle and crossed the bridge for the reception, which included Scottish music and dancing. |
