BMW has retired its most powerful motorcycle engine ever built, the beneficiary of decades competing at the highest levels of motorsport. The powerplant, known as the K1200R amongst BMW engineers and automotive purists, powered the recent generation of the "naked bike" segment. The simplicity and artfulness of engineering made the engine renowned for its steady levels of torque across the rev band. As you can see from the torque diagram its high initial value of about 100 Nm (Newton metres) 1) ______ a bit between 1500 and 2500 rpm (revolutions per minute) giving reasonable performance for the 240kg fully loaded motorbike from the lowest level of rotational speed. Further, the value 2) ______ steadily to 110 Nm and after 3) ______ to 106 Nm, the torque 4) ______ its highest point of almost 120Nm at 5600 rpm. Then, until 7500 rpm, the torque 5) ______ gradually by about 18 Nm. Afterwards, alongside with the rise of the number of revolutions, there is a sharp 6) ______ of the “moment” to around 80-82 Nm, which is anyway a very high value compared to other engines of this type. All in all, we are looking forward to the successor of the K1200R engine, which is supposed to appear this summer.
