Kevlar was developed by DuPont in 1965. It is a synthetic organic fiber in the aromatic polyamide family. It has very unique properties and chemical composition. It is tough, resistant to abrasion, durable, strong, light and thermally stable. It was developed to meet a growing demand for new synthetic materials. Many types of Kevlar are produced depending on the industrial needs. Kevlar is widely used in car industry because it offers superb puncture and abrasion resistance. It has many other applications, ranging from racing sails to body armor. Its high tensile strength-to-weight ratio makes it 5 times stronger than steel.

MODEL ANSWER:
The GPS is a space-based satellite navigation system. It provides location and time information anywhere on or near the Earth. The GPS project was developed in 1973 by the U.S. Department of Defense and it became fully operational in 1994. It offers great capabilities to military, civil and commercial users around the world.
The GPS transmits specially coded satellite signals that can be processed in a GPS receiver, enabling the receiver to compute position in three dimensions, velocity and time. With the increased number of satellites, reliability, accuracy and availability of the system is improved.
Navigation receivers are made for aircraft, ships, ground vehicles and for individuals. The GPS's accurate time facilitates everyday activities such as banking, mobile phone operations, emergency services, aircraft tracking, map-making and surveying.
