  1. Write down the tasks and time devoted to them during the lesson. Do Ls have enough time to solve the tasks? Are Ls involved in the tasks? Are the tasks meaningful?

  2. Write down Lesson stages and time devoted to them during the lesson. Are the stages clearly stated? Are the stages appropriately arranged? Are the stages meaningful? Are they connected(What kind of transition between stages)?

  3. How the lesson started? Were the Ss interested from the beginning till the end of the lesson? Is there a clear ending in the lesson? Does the lesson finish on time (just before a bell)? What did you liked/disliked about the lesson?

  4. What language does a T use during the lesson? Does he use L1 or L2 more? Was L1 used (If YES, when, why and was it necessary?)? Does T use non verbal communication? How does he refer to Ss?

  5. What are the modes of interaction? Does the T use lockstep? How does he control the class? How much time is devoted to lockstep and how much to pair/group work? Does he monitor meaningfully?

  6. Are the mistakes corrected immediately? How are they corrected? Is it overt or covered correction? Are there any mistakes in T’s language? Is pronunciation of new vocabulary introduced?

  7. What is the language of the T toward Ss? How are Ss called upon? Does T praise Ss? (How?) Are Ss encouraged to work? (How?) Does a T encourage self-correction? Is the T an only judge?

  8. Choose four pupils and watch them carefully during the whole lesson. Pay special attention to their behavior. Do they listen to the T and follow the instructions? Are they involved in the lesson? Are the concentrated and attentive? Do they talk in Polish or English? How do they show interest and boredom?

  9. What materials are used during the lesson: course book, authentic materials, teacher made tasks, games, etc.? Are they appropriate for the age and level of Ls? What audio/visual prompts are used? What quality are those materials? Do they stimulate Ls or not? Why?

  10. Note down all the T’s instructions. Are they short and clear? Does a T have to rephrase them, repeat them? Observe ways of explaining new words or grammar structures. Is it done in English? Yes/no, why? Do Ls ask additional questions? Why/why not?

  11. How would you describe learning environment? What’s the atmosphere? Is the T friendly? Which activities in the lesson do you consider were the most valuable for the Ss? Why were they valuable?

  12. How disciplined was the class in your opinion on a scale 1 to 10? Which Ss’ behaviour that you saw would you consider as lack of discipline or even discipline problem? Why do you think the discipline problem occurred? Why did the problem occurred at a specific stage of the lesson and not at some other point? How did the T respond to these behaviours?
