Adobe Photoshop 5.0
Pentium or higher computer with 16MB of RAM.
KPT 3.02 from Metacreations if you will be using this feature.
Simply load the KewlPack file to your Actions palette.
Copy the Woodenizer Lighting Effects preset into the “plug–ins\filters\lighting styles” directory.
Import the “Woodenizer Gradient presets into KPT3 GD (use “–” (minus sign) and “import” button in the GD).
Follow onscreen instructions.
Create an RGB file. Any size is fine—although it is always best to start about twice the final size, or at least 200hx600w—when you reduce it down, the image will be sharper. Set resolution to 72ppi for best results.
Create a new type layer with your black text - Bold SansSerif type seems to look best (Myriad Bold, Poppl-Laudatio, Arial Black, etc.).
The size of the type should be moderately large in comparison to the image area. Leave approximately 50 pixels around effect area.
When it asks for the KPT GD:
Use one of the Woodenizer Gradient presets. There are three main ones—straight/round/square—each has a varying effect in the wood grain.
If you do not have the KPT3, create a gradient in the PS4 GD tool palette—easy too . . . make it go from medium brown to a light tan (colorize to taste), make it repeat the blend 6 or 7 times, and save. Apply at a 45 degree angle.
Once created, the image is on it’s own layer. Also, you can move the drop shadow, save, rename it and move it wherever you prefer.
SPECIAL TIP: If you want a little different style of wood color or grain—like oak, or pine or ash—just tweak the preset GRD at apply–time. Reduce repetitions, change location of center, alter angle . . . play with it and have tons-o-fun!
