The masts must be assembled separately, taking care of thelr perfect align-ment. The position of.the caps ana of the connection collars of the booms are indicated on the drawing. After the assembly, the masts have to be glued in the special holes on the deck and must be kept in position by means of provisional bindings knotted to the ends of the masts and to the channels (take care of the correct inclination towards the poop); of course yards, booms and gaffs shall not be glued.

13)    Prepare the masts accordino to the form and to the sizes indicated on

the table 4. Glue on the mast 501 the caps 510, the collar 511, the cap 512, then    mount the part 502,    with the    collar 513, into the    caps 510 ana    512,

glue    the parts 514. Make    the connection 515 from brass    wire 0 lmm. and link

it to the cap 512 (fig. 1). Pamt matt white the upper part of the mast as indicated on the drawing. Introduce on the mast, without glueing, the 12 nngs 516, glue the ring 517 supporting the boom and the belaying pin-rack 518. Introduce the bush 513, glue the complete mast on the hull taking care that the bush is weil in contact with the deck (fig. 2); paint white the part    of the mast between    the ring    517 and the deck. In    the same way    glue    on

the mast 503 the collars    520, 521    and 522, borę and glue the little    ring

mount the belaying pin-rack 518, the mast-foot 519, paint like the main-mast and glue onto the hull (figs. 2-3).

14)    Glue on the bowsprit end 504 the collar 524, the cap 525 and link it to the part 526 (fig. 4), paint white the part of the bowsprit with square sec-tion and black the part with round section. Adjust the prow sector of the planking and of the handrail so that the bowsprit fits exactly; assemble the bowsprit on the hull glueing the back end in the sauare opening of the cap-stan and the central part leaning on the ram of the keel and on the planking of the bulwark (fig. 5).

lars528, 529    and 530, borę    and    glue the little    ring 531 (fig. 6), paint

white completely.

16)    Glue on the gaff 506 the collars 532-533 and the part 534, borę and glue the little rings535, paint white completely. Prepare in the same way the gaff 507 glueing the elements 536, 537 and 535. Mount on the jib-boom 508 (not painted) the collar 538, introduce the boom into the cap 525 and fasten the back end to the windlass 70 (fig. 5).

17)    Glue and tie on the deck and on the masts all the blocks, the cleats

and the little rings as indicated on the drawing. All the bindings must be glued with dilute vinavil. In order to fix the rings with shaft, bora with a 0,7 mm. drill where it is requested, bend the shaft of the little ring, glue and press in che nole (fig. 7). The different types of binding are i i -lustrated on    fig. 8, 9 and    10.    All the collars    have generally 4 connections:

cut off with    ą pair of pincers    those which are    not useful. Complete assem-

bling all the little rings 541 on the hull sides and the connection 542 on the prow.

Rigging

The rigging is set according to the numerical oroer. It must be strained but must absolutely not force on the masts, the knots have to be glued. Oo not try to operate the running rigging: it is advisable to fix the ropes with a drop ot glue to the blocks or to the belaying pins in the nght position. The shrouds 600... etc. are set in couples, alternatively on the right and on the ieft of che mast, they pass througn the cross-trees and end with the dead-eyes. The course of the rigging is represented with numbers and symbols maicating the rigging, the starting point, the various passages and the end point. The letter 0 near che numoer of che descnbea rigging, means that chis is double, that is one on port and one on starboaro. The esample: 604 0 = 603+72+603+72+603+72+602 (fig. 11) means that the rigging 604 is douDle, has one end with a knot, enters from the deck side, in the first hoia of the deaa-eye 603, passes through the first nole of the dead-eye 72, again througn che deaa-eye 503, through the deaa-eye 72, through the dead-eye 603, througn the deaa-eye 72, ends tied to the stay 602 and the relative course is iliustrated in fig.
