SIT on a cliair with tlie toes on thc edgc of a thick book. Raisc thc hccls as high as possiblc, i.e. into thc position shown m photo. at ihc same time reststing the movemcnt by prcssing with the hands on top of the kttccs. Nc\t lowcr thc hccls right down as far as they will go below thc lcvel of thc uppcr snrfacc of thc book. Try to make thc hccls touch thc floor. Rcpcat for 20 repetitions.
A1WANCED DEGREES: (i) Place a sandbag or barbcll wcighing about
30 lbs. across thc knees and perform thc excrcise as bcforc. Incrcase thc wcight as your strength in the calvcs incrcases.
(1) Place the wcight on one knee only and cxcrcise one leg at a titne. The cxcrcisc may bc modilied by turning thc toes inwards or outwards when dilfcrcnt hcads of thc gasrrocnemiiis muscle will bc affected.
