Ponieważ moim zamiarem było napisanie książki przeznaczonej dla szerokiej rzeszy czytelników, zrezygnowałem, podobnie jak w niektórych moich poprzednich pracach, z obszernych przypisów. Gdy zachodziła potrzeba podania źródła cytatu, czyniłem to w tekście. Poniższa bibliografia zawiera przede wszystkim opracowania. Materiały źródłowe, czyli tłumaczenia tekstów autorów antycznych, a także źródła celtyckie w języku irlandzkim i walijskim nie zostały tu umieszczone. W tekście podaję tytuły dzieł oryginalnych, zainteresowany czytelnik ma do dyspozycji ich opracowania i różne angielskie tłumaczenia, chociażby w znakomitej serii klasycznej wydawnictwa Penguin.
