Design/Completion 1988/1990 Hillingdon, Middlesex, England Stockley Park Consortium Ltd 320,000 square feet Steel frame Precast concrete
Set in an extensively landscaped office park, the three-building complex is located on an uneven triangular site bordered by a raised highway to the east and a canal to the south. The basie architectural plan adopted for all three buildings uses a 30-foot-square bay. This is logically expressed in an identical square plan for two of the buildings, while the third incorporates the same bay size but is irregular due to site constraints.
A white painted aluminum curtain wali, glazed with a combination of elear and fritted glass, is used for the two upper floors, with the ground floors clad in precast concrete. The exterior wali at the top floor is set back to expose the perimeter Steel columns, and to emphasize the roof structure. Mechanical rooftop units, concealed behind colorful metal screens and skylights capping the central lightwells, result in an overall sculptural quality.
