SIZE: 5 1/4" (width) x 5”.
MATERIALS : Rayon ribbon, 1 3/4" Aide: 64" wbite and 130 1/2" pink. kwing machinę thread, old gold (OG) ind fuchsia (F). Sewing needlc. One ound applique motif.
TO MAKE : Cut pink ribbon as bllows: four 10" pieces, two 5 1/4" >ieccs. two 8" pieces and one 64" piece. With OG, machinc-stitch four 10" ibbons to each other lengthwise as thown in diagram (notę overlap allow-mce).
Upper and Iow er edge binding : Fold ;ach 5 1/4" ribbon in half lengthwise, )lace one ovcr each narrowcr edgc. ititch across with OG, 1/4" from edge )f ribbon. With wrong sides together, old compleled piece in two. Side 'jinding : Fold each 8" ribbon in half cngthwisc. turn under l/4”ofbottom •aw edge for hem, place over each side ;dge of folded piece, and baste. Stitch vith F from top to bottom, 1/4” from :dge of ribbon. Loops : Fold ribbon ixtcnsion on each side toward back )f purse, turn under 1/4" hem allow-ince, stitch in place with F, 1/4" rom top of purse.
Appliyue : Take compleled round applique motif (see COASTERS). With F used doubled, embroider tiny triangles all ovcr fabric as per photo-graph. With OG. embroider a center into each triangle using bullion stitch (= with threaded needle on right side, insert needle in fabric as for back stitch, bul do not puli up; wind thread around needle top scveral limes; puli up needle and sccure stitch). Slip-stilch applique motif in place on front of purse. Pass wbite and pink 64-inch ribbons through loops. Remove basling.

S/ZE: 7 3/4 (width) x 10 3/4 inches.
MATERIALS : Pink rayon ribbon, 1 3/4" wide.6 1/3 yds. Sewing machinę thread in pink (P), old gold (OG) and fuchsia (F). One square applique motif.
TO MAKE : Cut ribbon as follows: fourteen 11 1/4" pieces and three 8 1/4" pieces. Leave one 45 1/2” piece. Front : With F, machine-slitch seven 11 1/4" ribbons lengtwisc to each other as per diagram, making 1/4" seams. Rcpeat for back. Top Edge Binding: Fold 8 1/4" ribbon in half lengthwise, place ovcr top edge, baste, stitch in place with F, making l/4"scam. Repeat Torbach. To join front and back at bottom edges, use third 8 1/4" ribbon as insertion: Place right sides of front and ribbon together, baste in place, and stitch along bottom edge making 1/4" seam. Repeat for back. Both seams are now on wrong side of joined front and back panel. Press seams lightly toward inserted ribbon. Now fold panel in half with right sides together. baste and stitch side edges making 1/4" seams. Remove all basling. Turn lote to right side. Strap ;Take 45 1/2" ribbon, turn under 1/2" at each end for hem. then fold ribbon in half lengthwise. With F, begin by slitching one end through all thicknesses on left side of tote, con-tinue along length of ribbon making 1/4" seam, then stitch second end of strap to other side of tote.
Applique : With OG used doubled, embroider triangles and other geometrie patterns over fabric on square applique motif (see COASTERS). With F. embroider a center into each shapc using bullion st (see PETITE PURSE). With P, sew fabric to tote front, leaving lace free. Then complete tote front as follows : With OG used doubled, embroider 8 bullion sts along center ribbon (see photo). On each side of bottom edge of each side ribbon and using OG doubled. work blanket-stitch loop thus: Make loop with seve-ral thicknesses of thread, bul stop so that you can work from right to left; be surę all threads are same height; now work over this loose Ip: hołd Ioose lp under left thumb, form lp with threaded needle. pass needle under loose lp from back to front and ovcr thread, puli up needle. Cont making thesc tiny Ips and working very elose until loose lp is complctcly covered. Secure thread. Make 4 blanket-stitch loops in all.
