The exhaust emission control system la composed of a lean carburetor setting, and no adjustments should be madę except idle speed adjustment with the throttle stop screw The exhaust emission control system is separate from the crankcase emission control system.
Thia model compfces wrth California Air Resources Board evaporative emission reguirements.
Fuel vapor from the fuel tank and carburetor ia directed into the charcoal caniater where it is adsorbed and stored while the engine is stopped. When the engine is runmng and the purge control diaphragm valve Is open, fuel vapor in the charcoal canie-ter is drawn into the engine through the carburetor.

TAMPERING WITH THE NOISE CONTROL SYSTEM IS PROHIBITED: Federal law prohibits the following acts or the causmg thoreof: (11 The removal or rendering inoperative by any person, other than for purposes of maintenance, repair or replace-ment, of any device or element of design incorporated into any new vohicle for the purpose of noise control pnor to its sale or dolivery to the ultimate purchaser or while it is in use; or (2) the use of the vehlcle after such device or element of design has been r»movod or rendered inoperntlvo by any person.
AMONG THOSE ACTS PRESUMED TO CONSTITUTE TAMPERING ARE THE ACTS LISTED BELOW:
1. Romoval of, or puncturing of the muffter. baffles. header pipes or any other component which conducta exhaust gasea.
2. Removal of. or puncturing of any part of the intake system.
3. Lack of proper maintenance.
4. Re plac mg any moving parta of the veh*cle. or parts of the exhaust or intake system, with parts other than those specified by the manufacturer.
