Finishing the scarecrow

Make the scarf from a thin ropę of dough and join it around the neck, Crossing it over at the front.

Push some dough through the garlic press. and join some strands to the head around the face. Push some strands in the end of the arms. legs and inside the front of the scarecrow’s body.

Once the scarecrow has cooled compietely you can begin painting him.

•    Green, for the shirt

•    Red, for the scarf

•    Watery orange, for the nose

and patch

•    Light brown, for the straw

and hair

•    Black, for the blackbird and mouth

Once the paint is dry, apply two or three coats of varnish.

Make the hat from two smali balls of dough and join it to the head. Cut a smali piece of? the back of the hat so the scarecrow can lie fiat. Push a hairpin in the back of the head and lay the scarecrow on a baking tray.

Make the blackbird from a 25mm (1 in) long cigar shape. Flatten one end to make the taił and make a snip on each side with scissors for the wings. Join the bird to the scarecrow‘s left arm.

Bakę at temperaturę 120°C (250°F or Gas Mark A) for about four hours.
