Les frais d’impression sont couvcrts d’une part par une subvcntion de 1’Unesco et, dc 1’autre, par le Comite Suisse d’organisation. Un exemplaire de ce petit ouvrage est annexe au troisieme tome des Comptcs Rendus. D’autres exemplaires sont en ventc aux Laboratoires de Recherches Hydrauliques et de Mecanique des Terres an-nexes a 1’Ecole Polytechnique Federale, Gloriastrasse 39, Zurich 6 (Suisse). Volume III comprises the programme of the Third Con-ference, a list of the Conference Members and of the Guests of Honour; also includcd are the Lectures delivcrcd at thc beginning of each Session, the fuli text of the discussion which took place during the Sessions, written discussions presented by Ist October 1953, and finally the Minutes of the Executive Committee meetings. The three volumes have 1244 pages in all.

It was decided to order 1750 copics of the Proceedings which is the number of the Proceedings of the Second International Conference sold up to the spring of 1953. Up to datę, March 1954, 1200 copies have been sold and 60 copies have bcen of-fered to persons who co-operated in organizing the Conference.

Dictionary

When editing the Proceedings, a compilation of tcchnical terms was arranged by the Secretariat; these terms were then translated into either English or French, and into German. The Organizing Committee is indebted to many collaborators for their kind co-operation. The terms thus compiled were published in the form of a booklet which was distributed to Conference Members. In accordance with suggestions madę during the meetings of the Executive Committee, it was decided to have this publication translated into Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish, and to publish a second edition, revised and completed. The printing costs were partly defrayed by a grant of Unesco and partly by the Swiss Organizing Committee. This bookiet is attached to the third vo!ume of the Proceedings. Further copies are available at the Laboratory for Hydraulic Research and Soil Mechanics, Swiss Fcderal Institute of Technology, Gloriastrasse 39, Zurich 6 (Switzcrland). Conference Members

A total of 723 cards were issued. This figurę includes 178 ladies and accompanying persons as well as 54 guests’ cards and those delivered to the Members of the Organizing Com-mittees. 71 other Members had booked but were unable to attend at thc last moment; to those Members thc fec paid in advance was refunded. In addition a smali number of day cards were delivered and approximately 20 students cards were allotted free of charge.
