ASIA’S PARTICIPATION IN PROCESS OF ECONOMIC INTEGRATION

Summary

Paper focuses on particular features of cooperation between Asian States. Analysis of four major Asian integration groupings’ (APTA, ASEAN, ECO and SAARC) position in world economy and intemational trade. as well as their degree of openness illustrate a theoretical study of modes and motives bchind the cooperation. We argue that in tenns of culture. politics and economy Asian States differ considerably. Such situation causes fear of contacts with the outer world. Yet a growing number of States cooperate inter-nationally, which is also reflected in establishment of regional integration groupings. Although empirical study covers only four groupings. major disparities in terms of wealth. openness to economic cooperation and growth dynamics are obsened even during the crisis.
