Pedagogika - „Description of my city”

My name is Joanna Stoehr. I was born in Poland. I live in Olsztyn which is located in the north-west Polish. Olsztyn is 87 km from the border with Russia, 131,21 km from Kaliningrad and 408 km from the capital of Lithuania- Vilnius, is located in the center of the Warmian-Masurian. Łyna is a river, which swims through the city.

Olsztyn population is over 170.000 thousand inhabitants. The summer temperature reaches to 26 degrees Celsius and in the winter it is cold down to -26 degrees Celsius. Olsztyn area is 88.33 kilometers square.

In Olsztyn the largest museum institution is the Museum of Warmia and Mazury a permanent exhibition in the Copernican.

The city is modern, but in the old town there are beautiful building from fourteenth century. In this part of city it’s a lot of streets which are very small and narrow, so the cars are problem with parking. There are few restaurants, cafés and expensive shop.

I live on suburbs of Olsztyn, near the lake „Skanda”. Every summer I spend my free time sunbathing and swimming with my family.

In my town there is one well-known University of Warmia and Mazury, also there is a theatre. From to time I’ve visited that place. Olsztyn is rather middle town, so it doesn't has many tourist attractions, but the other side has a lot of lake, green parks and many forests.

Olsztyn forests occupy is more than 1800 hectares (21, 2% of the city). More than half this compact urban „Forest Miejski” (1050 ha) that primarily of relaxation.

Urban transport system in Olsztyn has existed since 1907 year. In the years 1907- 1965 were trams lines, and in the years 1939-1971 also operating. Today the only means of transportation are buses. The strategy development Olsztyn appeared plans to restore the trams to 2020, the first line will be connecting the center and Jaroty.

I like very much my hometown, and I do not want to live in any other city.
