2.1
Overview
Function
The KRC Upgrade No-Admin software is an add-on functionality.
KRC Upgrade No-Admin restricts the access rights of the Windows user group
“Users” with regard to Windows system files and certain resources of the
KUKA System Software. This protects the system from being changed by this
user group.
Due to the access restrictions, KRC Upgrade No-Admin gives improved pro-
tection against malicious software (viruses, spyware, etc.). The basic protec-
tion must still be ensured by other programs, however (e.g. Ikarus virus
scanner).
The KUKA System Software (KSS), technology packages and all additional
KUKA functions retain their full functionality.
Windows users
During automatic logon, the user is logged on as ‘KUKAUser’. ‘KUKAUser’ has
only user privileges.
KRC Upgrade No-Admin creates the new Windows administrator ‘KUKASys-
tem’, which has all access rights to the entire system.
‘KUKASystem’ is a local user that, by default, does not have any rights on the
network. If ‘KUKASystem’ requires rights on the network, these can be as-
signed. In case of questions, please contact the KUKA Roboter GmbH.

Further
protection
KRC Upgrade No-Admin is designed to be used together with the technology
package KUKA.CPC.
KRC Upgrade No-Admin: Protects the Windows system against unwanted
access
KUKA.CPC: Protects the Windows system against uncertified software

Warning!
It is strongly recommended that the password for the user ‘KUKASystem’
should be changed. If the password is not changed, unauthorized persons
could gain access to the entire system with the aid of this documentation.
If the password is changed, the files StartKRC.kec and StartUtil.kec must be
adapted. In case of questions, please contact the KUKA Roboter GmbH.
(

The Windows user groups have nothing to do with the user groups in the
KSS. Both Windows user groups have access to all user groups in the KSS
(subject to entry of the correct password).

KRC Upgrade No-Admin alone does not provide adequate protection
against malicious software.
