KT Method
Thoracolumbar Fascia
Movie for broad-band (300kbps)
Patient position: standing with the
trunk in maximum forward flexion
Apply the base of the tape to the
paraspinal muscles at T7, the level of
the inferior angle of the scapula.
Stabilize the base of the Kinesio Tex
and apply downward pressure to
increase tissue tension.
Apply the tape over the paraspinal
muscles to the lumbosacral junction.
At the lumbosacral junction direct the
tape at a 45 degree angle to the
sacroiliac joint.
Allow the patient to return to neutral
spine posture to rest before applying
the second piece.
Apply the second longitudinal piece of
Kinesio Tex along the paraspinals on
the other side.
Extend the lumbar spine to 15
degrees to apply the horizontal piece
of Kinesio Tex.
Holding the Kinesio Tex by the tails,
pull the tape gently (mild tension) and
apply the central portion of the tape
along Jacoby s Line (the line drawn
between the right and left posterior
superior iliac crests)
Apply the tails to the iliac crests with
minimal tension on the ends.
