We use will to express:
A promise or offer: I will help you with your homework
A sudden/spontaneous decision: Are you thirsty? I'll make you some tea.
A general prediction: It will rain tomorrow.
A future fact: The President will visit on Thursday.
GOING TO
Positive Negative
I am going to help you. I am not going to help you.
He/she/it is going to help me. He/she/it is not going to help you.
They/we are going to help me. They/we are not going to help you.
Questions Short answers
Are you going to help me? No, he isn't (going to help)
Is he going to help me. Yes he is (going to help)
We use going to to express:
A personal intention/plan made before the moment of speaking: I'm going to go to the concert.
A prediction based on something you know, feel or you can see: Look! He's going to fall in the river!
UWAGA Do not confuse going to + verb and the present continuous going + to, which also has a future meaning:
I'm going to go to the pub ( = intention/plan)
I'm going to the pub ( = a plan which was arranged before)
